The Childcare Worker plays a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports each child's social, emotional, physical, and academic growth in alignment with LEAP's mission of providing high-quality, community-centered education.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Child Supervision & Care</p> <ul> <li>Provide attentive, warm, and developmentally appropriate care to children ages infant-school age. </li><li>Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom environment. </li><li>Ensure children are supervised at all times and follow all safety, health, and licensing guidelines. </li><li>Assist children with daily routines including meals, toileting, rest, and transitions. </li></ul> <p>Learning Environment</p> <ul> <li>Support teachers in implementing age-appropriate activities that encourage learning through play, exploration, and creativity. </li><li>Promote positive social interactions and help children build self-regulation and cooperative play skills. </li><li>Follow daily schedules and classroom routines to ensure consistency and structure. </li></ul> <p>Family & School Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Build positive, respectful relationships with children and families. </li><li>Communicate daily with parents/guardians regarding child activities, needs, and progress. </li><li>Support LEAP's culture of family engagement and community partnership. </li></ul> <p>Compliance & Professionalism</p> <ul> <li>Follow all LEAP Academy, state, and federal policies related to childcare, safety, and reporting. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. </li><li>Participate in required trainings, professional development, and staff meetings. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Experience working with young children (infant-school age) in a childcare or educational setting. </li><li>Ability to obtain or maintain required childcare clearances (fingerprinting, background check, TB test, etc.). </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to child development. </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or college coursework in Early Childhood Education. </li><li>CPR/First Aid certification. </li><li>Experience in an urban or charter school environment. </li></ul> <p>Skills & Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Warm, nurturing, patient demeanor. </li><li>Effective communication and teamwork skills. </li><li>Ability to multitask and respond calmly to changing situations. </li><li>Commitment to LEAP's mission of providing high-quality care and education to the Camden community. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Classroom and childcare center settings. </li><li>Frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 30 lbs, and floor work with children. </li><li>Schedule may include early morning or late afternoon hours depending on program needs. </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>Competitive hourly rate based on experience and credentials. </li><li>Benefits package available for eligible employees. </li></ul>
