<p>SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>Under general supervision, performs semiskilled work in maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment at an outdoor educational facility. The work of the class involves a general building and grounds maintenance and maintenance of items and equipment used at the facility including: industrial power tools, canoes, planetarium, observatory, care of animals, and upkeep of confidence course. Workers interact on a regular basis with students, staff, chaperones, and community users of the faciliy.</p> <p>CERTIFICATE LICENSE:</p> <p>Possession of a valid Maryland class D driver's license or equivalent.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:</p> <p>Working knowledge of the practices, methods, and materials of several building and grounds maintenance trades; some knowledge of the care of animals. Ability to use and maintain the more common hand and power tools of the trade(s) to which assigned; ability to operate farm type tractors, and light automotive equipment in a safe and effective manner; ability and willingness to learn a wide variety of tasks required in building and grounds maintenance and improvement work. Good human relations skills. Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).</p> <p>EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>High School or GED diploma required. Experience in the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.</p>
