Duties and responsibilities include: operating and maintaining all WTP equipment; performing maintenance on equipment related to Water Treatment Plant operations; views, understands, and operates SCADA. This classification precedes the Maintenance Tech. II position. Under general supervision, reports to WTP Maintenance SupervisorThe following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job. Other duties may be required and assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Trains to operate and maintain all water treatment plant equipment as directed by maintenance supervisor and/or manager. </li><li>Trains to perform maintenance of equipment related to maintenance of the water treatment plant and pump stations including calibration of feeders and instruments, and repair feeders, pumps, motors, hoists, backflow preventers, valves, and other treatment equipment. </li><li>Trains to perform maintenance of equipment related to maintenance of distribution booster stations and water tanks. </li><li>Trains to view, understand, and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system. </li><li>Enters and updates files on computer for preparing reports, spreadsheets, historical information, maintenance records and letters as directed. </li><li>Maintains sanitary cleanliness of work areas, the treatment plant and associated facilities. Trains to re-build and/or check valves, pumps, motors, hoists, feeders, and etc. </li><li>Maintains records in compliance to Federal, State, and City regulations. </li><li>Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Reports any accidents immediately to Supervisor. </li><li>Correctly wears appropriate personal protective equipment when required. </li><li>Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on customer's perception of the Town of Smyrna. </li><li>Promotes the teamwork environment. Assists coworkers when necessary. </li><li>Any other duties as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Provides coverage in absence of other personnel in maintenance and operations. </li><li>Performs duties as required by the maintenance supervisor, assistant manager or manager. </li><li>May have to work after hours in emergency situations. </li><li>Must maintain a city cell phone and be available for on-call 24/7. Must be able to respond to plant emergencies within 20 minutes. </li><li>Helps maintain the cleanliness of machines, work area and facility. Report incidents, or malfunctioning equipment to the Supervisor. </li><li>High School diploma or GED. </li><li>Must obtain Tennessee Grade 2 Distribution Systems Certification and Tennessee Grade III Water Treatment Operators Certification within 36 months of date of hire. </li><li>Must obtain Tennessee Grade IV Water Treatment Operators Certification within 48 months of date of hire. </li><li>Must obtain a Tennessee CDL License within 12 months. </li><li>Must have a valid Tennessee Driver's License. </li><li>Must be able to wear mandatory safety equipment (self-contained breathing apparatus, respirator). </li></ul> <p>EMPLOYEE AWARENESS</p> <ul> <li>Implement and assure adherence to Town of Smyrna's policies and procedures regarding Equal Employment Opportunity. </li><li>Adheres to Town of Smyrna initiative on business ethics and conduct. </li><li>Adheres to federal/state laws and relations regarding MSDA, OSHA and EPA compliance. </li><li>Mandatory overtime is sometimes required, as well as varying work hours including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. </li></ul>
