<p>Department: Food & Nutrition Services Reports To: Director, Food & Nutrition Services Position Type: Non-Union Contract: Full Time - 207 Days Annual Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 Benefits: Paid Sick Time and comprehensive benefits package</p> <p>Menu Planning & Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement nutritionally balanced menus that meet Massachusetts Nutrition Standards requirements while appealing to student preferences and tastes </li><li>Monitor and evaluate nutritional integrity to ensure all meals meet all USDA meal patter and regulations and nutrition requirements for breakfast and lunch programs and comply with all federal and state guidelines. </li><li>Produce production sheets utilizing our school nutrition database </li><li>Publish menus monthly on the district website, ensuring allergens and health needs such as carb counts for diabetics are addressed within the menus </li><li>Maintain accurate documentation for compliance monitoring and reporting </li><li>Respond to menu-related questions from staff, students, and families </li></ul> <p>Allergen Management & Special Dietary Needs</p> <ul> <li>Work with school nurses collaboratively to develop of food allergy management plans </li><li>Work with families, school nurses, and kitchen staff to accommodate special dietary needs safely </li><li>Maintain current knowledge of food allergen protocols and best practices Inventory & Operations Support </li><li>Manage district-wide inventory tracking for menu planning purposes </li><li>Monitor inventory levels across school sites and provide support when shortages occur </li><li>Order products as needed to support menu implementation and operational needs </li><li>Create and maintain order guides for efficient procurement </li><li>Collaborate with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of products Farm to School & Garden Programs </li><li>Collaborate with local farmers to source fresh, seasonal, and locally-grown products </li><li>Work with Massachusetts Farm to School to implement Harvest of the Month recipes and taste tests </li><li>Oversee the district's in-house hydroponic garden program </li><li>Integrate garden produce into school menus when available </li><li>Connect students to the source of their food through farm and garden-based learning opportunities Collaboration & Training </li><li>Work closely with the Operations Supervisor and Kitchen Managers on meal production, standardized recipes, and food preparation standards </li><li>Provide ongoing training to nutrition services staff on recipes and portion sizes </li><li>Assist in the coordination and facilitation of relevant professional development opportunities for Food & Nutrition Services staff </li><li>Support implementation of quality standards across all school nutrition sites </li><li>Assist the Director of Food & Nutrition Services as assigned Student Engagement & Nutrition Education </li><li>Promotes food literacy by supporting nutrition education initiatives that empower students to make healthy, informed food choices and develop lifelong wellness habits </li><li>Serve as an advocate for student nutrition and wellness throughout the district </li><li>Conduct taste tests and promotional activities to increase student participation and acceptance of healthy foods </li><li>Provide nutrition education through classroom visits, cafeteria marketing, and special events </li><li>Engage students in wellness initiatives that promote healthy eating habits Wellness Leadership </li><li>Serve as an active member of the Tewksbury Public Schools Wellness Advisory Group </li><li>Participate in district-sponsored wellness meetings and events </li><li>Contribute nutrition expertise to district wellness policy development and implementation </li><li>Collaborate with wellness team members to promote comprehensive health initiatives Professional Development </li><li>Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and meetings to stay current on school nutrition trends, regulations, and best practices </li><li>Complete a minimum of 12 hours of certified continuing education credits annually that enhance knowledge of the school nutrition program </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills Additional Responsibilities </li><li>The nature of this position may require hours beyond the regular workday </li><li>Perform tasks and assume responsibilities as determined by the Director of Food & Nutrition ServicesBachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field preferred </li></ul> <p>Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in school nutrition programs</p> <p>Strong working knowledge of NSLP compliance requirements</p> <p>Understanding of meal pattern requirements for reimbursable meals under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP)</p> <p>Thorough knowledge of Massachusetts Nutrition Standards for Competitive Foods and Beverages in Public Schools.</p>
