Job #24933</p> <p>5/8/2025</p> <p>TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, FEE LAB, McGovern Institute for Brain Research,?to help manage the daily operations of the Fee Lab. The lab studies motor learning in a songbird model organism and performs multidisciplinary research on the neural mechanisms of vocal control in the zebra finch and designs novel tools and techniques, including miniature functional imaging and high-density electrophysiology, to perform neural recordings in freely behaving birds as they learn their songs through a process of vocal experimentation.?Responsibilities include general laboratory organization and management, including purchasing and inventory control; managing the health and genetic diversity of a zebra finch colony; assuring compliance with animal welfare and environment, health, and safety (EHS) regulations; performing tissue histology and immunostaining; and management of a small computer network and data storage. The position offers an opportunity to directly participate in research projects, provided that the candidate is self-motivated and willing to learn. The?Fee Lab?is a small, friendly, supportive, and close-knit community that is excited about employing anyone who shares its scientific curiosity.
