<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Related Services/Behavioral Health</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>5/5/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Forest Hills School District Main Office</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>08/18/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Forest Hills Local Schools  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Behavior Specialist</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Bachelor's Degree</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Ohio State Board of Education credential (or willing to obtain)</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential and/or trained in applied behavior analysis (or willing to obtain within designated timeframe)</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Safe Crisis Management or Crisis Prevention Intervention credential</p> </li></ol> <p>(or willing to obtain)</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Minimum of three years of job-related experience </li></ol> <p>Definition: The District Behavior Specialist serves as a consultant to district and building teams on student behavior assessments and plans. This position ensures the provision of support for students with high needs related to mental health and behavior disorders. The behavior specialist is knowledgeable about the necessary strategies, data collection, and resources that are available to students with these unique needs. The District Behavior Specialist will also provide training and support to school personnel regarding classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Communicate regularly with building principal and district administrators (e.g. Student Services and Special Education) regarding caseloads, observations, and consultations to ensure appropriate caseload management. This may include ongoing collaboration and updates with the district coordinators regarding student cases.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the development of behavioral intervention plans, and support implementation.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate regularly with building staff and families on progress data, intervention plans, and necessary revisions.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide assistance to building requests for supporting critical incidents.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the development and implementation of data collection methods.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and participate in student/building/district meetings related to student behavior.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide training and support to district personnel related to crisis prevention and deescalation.</p> </li><li> <p>Seek professional development in the areas of mental health and behavior disorders.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide behavioral coaching, as needed, to building teams, related to mental health and behavioral disorders.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions to create an environment in which "at-risk" students thrive.</p> </li><li> <p>Work collaboratively with the Director of Student Services to facilitate district-wide PBIS Committee.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate and coach teams through the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments (FBA's), behavior intervention plans (BIP's), and crisis plans for students.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist staff in: defining and measuring behavior; understanding of principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for decreasing behavior; and identifying antecedents.</p> </li><li> <p>Consult and/or coach school personnel on research-based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide training and consultation to teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support personnel through observations, meetings, coaching, and other methods based on data.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete all documentation and reporting requirements as mandated by the district, state, federal, and educational agencies (e.g. restraint and seclusion, assessments, behavioral data).</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Fast-paced environment</p> </li><li> <p>Prolonged and irregular hours</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds</p> </li></ol> <p>NOTE: The job description statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the person(s) assigned to this job.
