<p>The Town of Barnstable (population 45,000) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Assistant. This position performs recordkeeping, auditing, research, and administrative work in support of the Human Resources Department.</p> <p>Applicants must have a working knowledge of human resources administration. Some knowledge of municipal government and the operation of Town Departments would be helpful. The successful candidate should have the ability to prepare and maintain detailed and confidential records and reports. Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is required. Familiarity with HR software such as MUNIS is desirable. Individuals must also be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.</p> <p>High school diploma with supplemental courses in business or related field required. Associates degree in business or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position will be considered. The team-oriented work environment requires quick thinking, problem solving, excellent communication and a passion for public service.</p> <p>The Town of Barnstable is located in the mid-cape area of Cape Cod and is approximately 60 miles south of the City of Boston. Due to its unique location, it is the regional commercial and transportation hub for the Cape Cod area. Ferry service for the islands of Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket is provided by the Steamship Authority from the village of Hyannis and the Cape Cod Gateway Airport is the third largest and busiest airport in Massachusetts.
