<p>Job Title: Engine Technician</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>As an Engine Technician, you will collaborate with engineers in a state-of-the-art propulsion laboratory to develop, calibrate, and test engine components. You will work on cutting-edge projects that could be years away from production, contributing to the development and validation of high-performance engines.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with engineers to conduct calibration development, mechanical experiments, and manual test points for engine development. </li><li>Perform mechanical swapping of engine components to optimize performance. </li><li>Utilize AVL/PUMA and emissions equipment in a laboratory setting. </li><li>Execute engine tuning and calibration using HP Tuners or standalone systems. </li><li>Run and operate manual testing on a dynamometer. </li><li>Collaborate with Test Engineers to adjust fuel tables, air intake, spark, and exhaust for optimal performance. </li><li>Work at the component level, including tasks such as oil pumps, head or cam changes, fuel injectors, and spark plugs. </li><li>Assemble, modify, and fabricate engines for testing. </li><li>Fabricate components for engine and test stand/dynos. </li><li>Perform instrumentation between the engine and the dyno. </li><li>TIG weld parts and components as needed. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>3-5 years of experience with engine dynamometers. </li><li>Hands-on experience with engine rebuild, tear down, assembly, repair, and troubleshooting. </li><li>Proficiency in fabrication and assembly using hand tools. </li><li>Associate's degree in a relevant field. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with AVL/PUMA and emissions equipment. </li><li>Familiarity with engine tuning software such as HP Tuners. </li><li>Experience in a laboratory setting focused on testing and development. </li><li>Calibration experience, ideally gained from personal projects or work with standalone fueling systems. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work takes place in a very clean test lab and garage, part of a large engineering headquarters. The facility is air-conditioned and equipped with a full-service cafeteria open from 6 am to 2:30 pm. Employees will need to provide their own basic tools, while the company supplies a toolbox and any unique or specialty tools. The facility offers ample parking, though there may be a short walk to the building. The role offers shifts on a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift basis with varying hours.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract position based out of PONTIAC, MI.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
