<p>Posting Number Advertised Title Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Instructor (Part-Time) Campus Location Park Avenue Campus (Memphis, TN) Position Number TBD Category Temporary Employees Department Position Summary</p> <p>The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (SCSD) at the University of Memphis seeks a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our Memphis Speech and Hearing Center (MSHC) team in a part-time capacity (30 hours/week, Tuesday through Friday). This is an exciting opportunity to work with diverse populations while contributing to the education of future SLPs through clinical supervision of graduate students. This role is primarily geared toward serving pediatric clients, including participating in Porter-Leath HeadStart screenings, completing speech-language evaluations, and providing pediatric speech-language therapy, including supporting autistic children. This position is available immediately.</p> <p>Position Details</p> <ul> <li>Part-time position (up to 30 hours/week) </li><li>Schedule: Tuesday through Friday </li><li>Hourly compensation based on experience </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Working within our collaborative clinical environment, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric clients with diverse speech, language, and communication disorders continuously through the contract period, except dates observed as UofM holidays (http://www.memphis.edu/hr/holidays.php) </li><li>Supervise and provide clinical education to graduate students during their clinical rotations </li><li>Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs </li><li>Monitor patient progress using electronic medical records systems and adjust treatment plans as needed </li><li>Provide counseling and education to patients and their families on communication techniques and strategies </li><li>Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed to ensure comprehensive care </li><li>Participate in ongoing professional development activities to maintain evidence-based practice </li><li>Advocate for patients within healthcare and educational settings </li><li>Engage in periodic meetings with the clinical faculty </li></ul> <p>Minimum Position Qualifications</p> <p>Requirements for Education and Credentials</p> <ul> <li>Completed Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology </li><li>Holds and maintains Tennessee state licensure in Speech-Language Pathology </li><li>Holds and maintains Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) </li><li>Completed a minimum of 9 months post-CCC-SLP experience </li><li>Preferred: 2+ years of clinical experience </li><li>Completed at least .2 ASHA continuing education units (CEUs) (2 hours) in the area of clinical education, and .1 CEU (1 hour) in the area of ethics obtained within the past credentialing period. If this is not available, SCSD will assist with an independent study for ASHA CE credit. </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Holds and maintains CPR certification </li><li>Submits proof of negative TB test </li><li>Willing to complete University-specific trainings </li><li>Employment is dependent on a background check through the University of Memphis and additional organizations as required </li></ul> <p>Special Conditions</p> <p>Essential Skills and Qualities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated clinical expertise in pediatric speech and language disorders </li><li>Experience in or aptitude for clinical supervision </li><li>Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills </li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals </li><li>Strong oral and written communication skills </li><li>Empathy and patience in working with diverse patient populations </li><li>Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care </li><li>Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team </li><li>Excellent organizational and time-management skills </li></ul> <p>SCSD will provide training on the following workplace requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Entering time worked electronically on a biweekly basis </li><li>HIPAA and FERPA regulations </li><li>Entering charges into the electronic medical record system </li><li>Writing/reviewing/approving documentation in the electronic medical record system </li><li>SCSD Handbook policies regarding office procedures and clinical training/evaluation </li><li>Approving student clock hours electronically </li></ul> <p>Posting Date 05/02/2025 Closing Date Open Until Screening Begins No Hiring Range $40.00 - $41.00 per hour Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time: Benefits Ineligible Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>All applications must be submitted online at workforum.memphis.edu.</p> <p>Applicants must complete all applicable sections of the online application to be considered for a position.
