<p>Overview of the Malden Public Schools:</p> <p>The Malden Public Schools (MPS) is a richly diverse school district located within the Greater Boston area and accessible by the MBTA orange line train. Malden's enrollment comprises approximately 6,100 students who represent 59 different countries and speak 67 different languages. The district has an early learning center, five K-8 schools, and one high school. We are committed to providing high expectations for all learners through rigorous instruction and culturally responsive practices and pedagogy. We believe that our diversity is an asset, and we are seeking candidates that reflect, embrace, and contribute to the strengths of our community.</p> <p>Please note: This position focused on Kindergarten through Grade 8.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and evaluate special education staff in accordance with MPS evaluation process. </li><li>Monitor implementation of IEPs and services. </li><li>Chair TEAM meetings as assigned. </li><li>Participate in BSEA proceedings and other dispute resolution meetings. </li><li>Attend SEPAC meetings and events. </li><li>Plan and monitor special education programs in conjunction with building and district administrators. </li><li>Provide support to building administrators regarding discipline for students with disabilities. </li><li>Review student IEPS, providing feedback and corrections as needed. </li><li>Participate in district-wide leadership committees as assigned. </li><li>Provide professional development and technical assistance to staff regarding assessment, data collection, curriculum development, selection of materials and equipment, behavior management, differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications, and strategies that support inclusive best practices. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Candidate must hold a master's degree or higher in special education. </li><li>Previous experience as a team chairperson at the elementary school level required. </li><li>Administrative/supervisory certification required. </li><li>Special Education Administrator DESE certification required and SEI Admin Endorsement. </li><li>Must have a thorough working knowledge of state and federal special education regulations and policies, instructional strategies, curriculum modification and differentiated instruction, program development and evaluation, transition and current best practices in special education that support inclusion. </li><li>Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with district and building based administrators, general and special education staff, parents and students. </li></ul> <p>Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services</p> <p>Salary: $148,729.06 [SY26-27]</p> <p>For more information, see Unit B salary schedule</p> <p>Unit B 2025-2028 Salary Schedule</p> <p>More information on working in Malden Public Schools:</p> <p>https://www.maldenps.org/why-mps/careers</p> <p>Work Year: 206 work days (184 days of school year plus 22 additional days scheduled in consultation with supervisor)</p> <p>Download 2026-2027 School Year Calendar</p> <p>To Apply: Submit your application on School Spring.</p>
