The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:</p> <ul> <li>Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and respond effectively to questions from students, staff, parents, and community members. </li><li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional literature, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. </li><li>Sound reasoning and problem-solving skills to evaluate information, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend appropriate courses of action. </li><li>Capacity to use professional literature, evidence-based research, and ongoing professional learning to inform instructional and practice decisions. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the community. </li><li>Strong organizational and time-management skills to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects. </li><li>Commitment to performing all duties in compliance with district requirements, state and federal laws, and Framingham Public Schools policies. </li><li>Demonstrated cultural proficiency and competence in working with students and families from diverse backgrounds. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and student records. </li><li>Professionalism and composure in responding to unpredictable or challenging situations. </li><li>Proficiency in using technology and willingness to learn new tools; ability to operate a computer and utilize software, including Google Workspace for Education. </li><li>Willingness to plan, coordinate, and participate in ongoing professional learning, coaching, and staff development. </li><li>Experience in evaluating student skills, interpreting assessment data, and writing clear, concise reports. </li><li>Strong collaborative, instructional, coaching, and leadership skills to support student programming. </li><li>Ability to use data effectively to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes. </li><li>Knowledge of specialized content areas, relevant laws, and educational procedures. </li><li>Ability to plan and implement lessons that align with district and school goals. </li><li>Proficiency in integrating instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning. </li><li>A proactive, reflective, and solution-focused approach to supporting student growth and success. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.</p> <ul> <li>Execute various custodial tasks, including sanitizing, scrubbing, waxing, buffing, and dusting furniture and equipment to maintain a clean and safe environment. </li><li>Vacuum and shampoo carpets. </li><li>Wash windows, mirrors, glass, and other surfaces. </li><li>Change light bulbs as needed, both indoors and outdoors. </li><li>Clean furniture, equipment, sills, ledges, heating grills, ventilation units, walls, ceilings, stairs, and boilers. </li><li>Sweep or shovel snow, apply sand and salt, and chip ice from exterior walks and steps. </li><li>Empty wastebaskets and trash receptacles in offices, classrooms, lounges, kitchens, gymnasiums, corridors, and bathrooms, and dispose of rubbish properly. </li><li>Arrange rooms as required for various activities. </li><li>Inspect both the interior and exterior of the building for vandalism and report any issues to the senior custodian. </li><li>Notify the senior custodian of emergencies and assist in overtime work as necessary. </li><li>Adhere to all safety protocols. </li><li>Work with the senior custodian to regulate the HVAC system for optimal indoor temperatures. </li><li>Open and lock exit doors, check panic hardware and door closers, and report malfunctions. </li><li>Perform landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, trimming, fertilizing, weeding, and picking up litter. </li><li>Handle minor building and equipment repairs, including minor painting and touch-ups. </li><li>Oil and lubricate equipment and change filters as necessary. </li><li>Conduct checks on fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, fire/smoke alarms, deluge showers, and eyewash stations. </li><li>Recommend the reordering of supplies to the senior custodian. </li><li>Complete any required paperwork. </li><li>Work collaboratively with all building personnel, visitors, co-workers, and supervisors. </li></ul> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This includes walking, lifting, and operating equipment. </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and move heavier materials using appropriate equipment. </li><li>The role involves working indoors and outdoors, including exposure to various weather conditions, such as rain, snow, and heat. </li><li>The noise level may be high when operating power equipment. </li><li>The employee may need to work in confined spaces, which can involve crawling or climbing at heights. </li><li>The use of personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks, is required to adhere to OSHA regulations, especially when handling cleaning chemicals or potentially infectious materials. </li><li>The employee must be able to respond to emergencies and work overtime if required to address urgent situations. </li><li>The position may involve occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and potentially infectious materials. </li><li>The employee will operate ladders, scaffolding, mechanical lifts, and district vehicles as part of their custodial duties. </li><li>May receive injuries from aggressive students. </li><li>May require physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling behavior. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO</p> <ul> <li>Senior Building Custodians and/or Shift Foreperson. </li><li>The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Framingham Custodial Services (Unit C) Contract. </li></ul> <p>FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION</p> <ul> <li>This position is classified as Non-Exempt (Hourly). </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <ul> <li>Covered under Framingham School Custodial Services (Unit C) Contract.
