<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Ledyard Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Physical Education Teacher beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the successful candidate will create a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exercise. This is to fill an anticipated vacancy.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates methods that support the physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development of children </li><li>Creates appropriate physical education instruction adaptation for learners of different abilities </li><li>Recognizes individual group behaviors and motivations so as to create a safe learning environment </li><li>Creates a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction and self-motivation </li><li>Understands effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques to enhance learning and encourage engagement </li><li>Plans and implements developmentally appropriate instructional strategies based on national and/or state standards </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Physical Education certification (044) </li><li>Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment </li><li>Master's Degree in related area preferred </li><li>Successful prior physical education teaching experience is a plus </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>Salary and Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Per the Ledyard Education Association agreement </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds overhead at times </li><li>Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Applications will only be accepted online.
