We're looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.</p> <p>Organization and Position Overview</p> <p>Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.</p> <p>The Sr. Principal - Industrial Hygiene is responsible for the implementation of industrial hygiene programs at the Lilly Medicine Foundry (LMF), including supporting the design of a best-in-class pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and developing technical capabilities at the Foundry related to Industrial Hygiene. They possess deep technical knowledge of Industrial Hygiene as it applies to pharmaceutical manufacturing. They understand current best practices in exposure assessment and controls, and how they are applied to protect workers and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements. They maintain relationships with other internal experts in industrial hygiene and interact with regulators. The Sr Principal - Industrial Hygiene works cross-functionally to meet operational excellence goals, mentors technical staff in other functions, and helps create a culture of caring, transparency, and continuous improvement.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Work with design teams, Lilly engineers, and other SME to design and deliver a best-in-class pharmaceutical manufacturing facility following the hierarchy of controls. </li><li>Develops all LMF Industrial Hygiene programs and lead cross-functional teams in implementing IH programs. </li><li>Provides technical IH expertise for new product introductions, changes, nonroutine/troubleshooting activities, and shutdown/start up activities. </li><li>Advises on priorities and the development of the LMF HSE plan. </li><li>Monitors the external regulatory environment through engagement with the Lilly IH community. </li><li>Hosts regulatory inspectors and internal auditors and leads/support self-assessments. </li><li>Advises management and senior technical staff on industrial hygiene practices, following the hierarchy of controls. Provides expert interpretation of regulations, corporate standards, policies, and industry guidance. </li><li>Develops the skills and expertise of Operators, Engineering, Maintenance, Chemists, Leaders, and other staff to ensure effective and compliant implementation of IH programs. Promotes a speak up culture that empowers employees and contractors with the authority to stop work. </li><li>Develops and oversees exposure monitoring plans and risk assessment processes. Executes exposure monitoring studies and communicates results to employees. </li><li>Supports the investigation of events and develops robust and sustainable corrective and preventative actions. </li><li>Develops & delivers high quality training and communications. </li><li>Drives implementation of site process safety initiatives. </li><li>Completes site performance metric reviews and analyses. </li></ul> <p>Basic Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor degree in Industrial Hygiene or related Science degree. </li><li>Minimum of 5+ years as Industrial Hygienist, preferably in the pharmaceutical manufacturing. </li></ul> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene </li><li>Certification in Industrial Hygiene. </li><li>Possess a keen technical curiosity and a desire for continuous improvement. </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in execution. </li><li>Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a cross-functional team consisting of a diverse group of management, production, compliance, science, and engineering professionals. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to participate in, influence and facilitate decision-making, and lead cross-functional teams. </li></ul> <p>Lilly is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities to actively engage in the workforce, ensuring equal opportunities when vying for positions. The anticipated wage for this position is</p> <p>$63,000 - $162,800</p> <p>Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
