You will work closely with a small, interdisciplinary team of approximately six people, including molecular and computational biology scientists, and report directly to the head of research and development. The environment emphasizes fast-paced, early-stage research with evolving priorities, where you help shape direction in the absence of a fixed playbook. The culture values thoughtful decision-making over speed for its own sake and encourages clear, direct communication and collaborative problem-solving. Laboratory work will involve frequent use of analytical instruments such as ICP-OES, ion chromatography, HPLC, GC, mass spectrometers, and microscopy tools, as well as standard sample preparation equipment for ore processing. Dress expectations align with a professional laboratory setting, including appropriate lab attire and safety gear when working with instruments and during sample preparation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Berkeley, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $160000.00/yr.

Salary range: $120K-$160K annually Employee stock option plan Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance Access to 401K and FSA commuter benefits Flexible PTO policy in addition to paid leave for all 11 federal holidays and a 2-week winter office closure Annual $500 lifestyle benefit

Workplace Type

This is a fully remote position.

Application Deadline

This position is anticipated to close on May 26, 2026.

About Actalent

Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
