<p>General Definition of Work</p> <p>The Long-Term Guest Teacher Substitute (non-certified), under moderate supervision, performs intermediate level work with limited decision-making discretion providing for a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment in the absence of the regularly assigned teacher. The non-certified long-term guest teacher substitute will effectively manage the classroom and provide instruction for students based on teacher provided lesson plans, school provided lesson plans, or grade/department level created plans aligned to curriculum. This position is assigned at the building level for the entire school year and fills teacher absences as assigned by principal. The Long-Term Guest Teacher Substitute (non-certified) performs complex work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures related to classroom instruction and student supervision under the direction of the principal.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Salary/Status</p> <p>Monthly Rate: $3,534.96</p> <p>Full-time Temporary /10 months with benefits</p> <p>Reports To</p> <p>Principal</p> <p>Place of Work</p> <p>The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures </li><li>Study and follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal </li><li>Effectively manage the classroom and provide instruction for students based on teacher provided lesson plans, school provided lesson plans, or grade/department level created plans aligned to curriculum </li><li>Apply various teaching techniques (including interactive methods and game-based activities) to encourage participation and facilitate learning </li><li>Prepare educational materials, such as notes, exercises and additional resources </li><li>Assign classwork and homework </li><li>Take attendance according to school policy </li><li>Grade students' assignments and provide constructive feedback </li><li>Report any incidents regarding students' behavior in and out of the classroom </li><li>Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, or any breach of the district's Code of Student Conduct to the school administration as soon as possible </li><li>Establish and maintain a safe and orderly learning environment </li><li>Oversee school equipment and ensure students use it properly </li><li>Participate in grade-level meetings, faculty meetings, student intervention teams and other committees normally assigned to the regular classroom teacher </li><li>Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly </li><li>Create an inclusive environment with positive communication </li><li>Perform related work as assigned or required </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of lesson plan development and implementation </li><li>Ability to implement classroom management strategies </li><li>Ability to work with student data </li><li>Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress </li><li>Ability to understand complex, multi-stepped written and oral instructions </li><li>Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor </li><li>Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to schools </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively </li><li>Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships </li><li>Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums </li><li>Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business </li><li>Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree preferred </li><li>Associate degree OR two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours </li></ul> <p>OR Ability to pass a formal assessment (ACT Workkeys and 96 hours) required</p> <ul> <li>Equivalent combination of experience and education </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation </li><li>Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings </li><li>Minimum age 21 years old </li></ul>
