The role is flexibly located within Europe, reflecting the pan-European scope and enabling us to attract the best possible talent.</p> <p>This role combines strategic direction with hands-on, tactical procurement execution in a fast-paced, international environment.</p> <p>The Opportunity</p> <p>As Procurement Manager, you will act as a commercial and operational business partner for European road freight, managing a complex carrier ecosystem across LTL and FTL networks, covering both domestic and cross-border flows.</p> <p>You will contribute to category strategy development while remaining closely involved in day-to-day sourcing, negotiations, rate management, contract execution, and performance follow-up.</p> <p>You will work closely with stakeholders across Product (MGF, LCL, MEC), Network Design, HSSE, Finance, Legal, Sustainability, and Digital teams across Europe and globally.</p> <p>What You'll Be Doing</p> <p>Category Strategy & Tactical Sourcing Execution</p> <ul> <li>Contribute to pan-European road freight category strategies with a clear LTL / FTL focus </li><li>Lead and execute sourcing activities such as tenders, lane pricing, carrier onboarding, and negotiations </li><li>Establish and maintain carrier agreements that balance cost, service quality, and scalability </li><li>Support continuous rate optimisation through structured follow-up </li></ul> <p>Carrier Network, Performance & Contract Management</p> <ul> <li>Manage a European road freight carrier network across domestic and cross-border flows </li><li>Monitor KPIs such as OTIF, cost, and service quality and drive improvements </li><li>Ensure contract compliance and performance follow-up </li></ul> <p>Multi-Product Procurement Scope</p> <ul> <li>Maersk Ground Freight (MGF) road freight networks </li><li>E-commerce pickups and linehauls </li><li>LTL, LCL and distribution solutions </li></ul> <p>Data-Driven & Digital Procurement</p> <ul> <li>Use data to benchmark rates and support sourcing decisions </li><li>Work with TMS and digital platforms (e.g. Oracle Transportation Management, Transporeon, CargoWise) </li></ul> <p>Commercial Partnership & Planning</p> <ul> <li>Partner closely with Product teams (MGF, LCL, MEC) </li><li>Proactively plan sourcing activities to meet operational needs </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For</p> <p>Experience & Background</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience </li><li>Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement, road freight, or logistics experience </li><li>Experience with European LTL / FTL networks and cross-border transport </li><li>Experience balancing strategic sourcing with hands-on execution </li></ul> <p>Commercial, Analytical & Digital Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong commercial and negotiation skills </li><li>Ability to use data to support sourcing and pricing decisions </li><li>Experience with procurement systems, BI tools, or TMS platforms is an advantage </li></ul> <p>Ways of Working</p> <ul> <li>Execution-focused, proactive, and structured </li><li>Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments </li><li>Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills </li></ul> <p>Languages & Systems</p> <ul> <li>Fluent English required </li><li>Additional European languages (e.g. German, Danish, Polish, Spanish) are highly valued but not mandatory </li><li>Strong proficiency in MS Office; ERP, procurement platforms, and transport systems are an advantage </li></ul> <p>Why Maersk?</p> <p>At Maersk, you don't just fill a role - you help shape the future of global logistics.
