Guided by our values of integrity, respect, accountability and excellence, we use leading science and technology to move fiber-based packaging forward.</p> <p>The Opportunity</p> <p>The successful Mechanical Technician will be required to repair, maintain, and install plant mechanical equipment. Employee must function at high levels of quality and efficiency while maintaining the highest standard of safety. Good communication skills are a necessity. Employee must follow standard work procedures and safe work practices/procedures. Extensive experience dealing with basic industrial safety topics such as lockout, fall protection, confined space entry, personal protective equipment, and guarding is required.</p> <p>Schedule: Day shift and on-call rotation</p> <p>What You Need To Succeed</p> <ul> <li>Manufacturing and/or Mill experience are strongly preferred. </li><li>Working knowledge of computer programs using Windows based operating systems is desireable. </li><li>Operating equipment such as hoists, man-lifts, rigging equipment, cranes and forklifts. </li><li>Installing new and rebuilt equipment as required. </li><li>Working in a team environment interacting with other maintenance employees, management personnel, production operators, engineers and contractors. </li><li>Following work plans and schedules and reading P&ID's / mechanical drawings. </li><li>Understanding the goals of the maintenance department and working toward their successful achievement. </li><li>Have a good working understanding of precision measuring equipment. </li><li>Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic equipment, conveyor systems, and production machinery; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. </li><li>Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. </li><li>Knowledge of millwright, pipe fitting skills, with welding skills in the pulp and paper industry or similar industrial environment. </li><li>Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. </li><li>Attend any seminars and or short courses to stay current with the continuous change in technology. </li><li>Perform similar and related duties. </li><li>Two (2) to five (5) years of full time experience as a general mechanic; a combination of millwright, pipe fitting skills, with welding skills in the pulp and paper industry or similar industrial environment. </li><li>Able to work safely around electrical and other Industrial equipment </li><li>Working knowledge of all hand tools and possess the tools necessary to perform the tasks </li><li>Basic Pneumatics </li><li>Basic Hydraulics </li><li>HS diploma or GED equivalent </li><li>Good understanding of basic math for maintenance </li><li>Willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as needed </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like; using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. </li><li>Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. </li><li>Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. </li><li>Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. </li><li>Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. </li><li>Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions To Which Incumbent Is Exposed</p> <ul> <li>The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes (i.e. warehouses, machine floor, covered loading docks, garages, etc.) </li><li>The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather. </li><li>The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places or exposure to chemicals. </li></ul> <p>Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.</p> <p>Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by state or federal law.</p>
