Smith University invites dynamic and dedicated applicants for the role of Resident Supervisor within its Upward Bound Program. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a transformative initiative committed to advancing academic success, personal development, and college readiness for high school students from underrepresented backgrounds.</p> <p>The Resident Supervisor serves as a key leader within the program's residential component, fostering a safe, structured, and engaging living-learning environment where students can thrive. This role emphasizes mentorship, leadership, and community-building, supporting participants as they navigate both academic and personal growth. Working closely with program leadership and residential staff, the successful candidate will help cultivate a cohesive and inclusive environment that promotes respect, accountability, and student success.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with diverse student populations and possess the ability to lead with empathy, professionalism, and integrity. They will bring a positive, student-centered approach to engagement, serve as a role model within the residential community, and contribute to an environment that values diversity in all its forms. Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively manage responsibilities in a dynamic, residential setting.</p> <p>This position reports to the Director and Academic Coordinator of Upward Bound and requires residential engagement for the duration of the program. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual passionate about mentorship, education, and equity to make a lasting impact at Johnson C. Smith University.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience working with underrepresented populations, preferably within a residential or youth development setting. Demonstrated ability to mentor and support high school students in both academic and personal development is essential. Applicants should possess strong leadership skills, a positive and professional demeanor, and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team. A high level of cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
