<p>Apply</p> <p>Job Type</p> <p>Full-time</p> <p>Description</p> <p>St. Croix Health is looking for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Endoscopy Technician to join our Surgical Services team! This position will work Monday - Friday, day shifts.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for handling high level disinfection instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during endoscopic procedures. This position has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The Endoscopy Technician has the knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during endoscopic procedures and is vigilant in the maintenance and care of equipment and instrumentation.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Preoperative Responsibilities </li><li>Assist in escorting patients via carts to procedures. </li><li>Procure and stocks equipment and supplies and ensures that equipment is clean and operable </li><li>Observes patients' physical condition and communicates any changes or pertinent information related to patients' health to the RN </li><li>Ability to set-up, clean and process scopes and other equipment for all GI scheduled procedures </li><li>Assist RN and MD in assigned room as appropriate with equipment and patient care needs. </li><li>Notes and carries out physician's and nurse's orders providing needed assistance in performing endoscopic procedures </li><li>Assists with collecting and labeling specimens appropriately </li><li>Gathers equipment for cleaning and disinfection </li><li>Attends to the cleaning, disinfection and maintenance of endoscopes and related equipment </li><li>Maintains work area in a neat orderly manner </li><li>Assists in the monitoring of the patient through the procedure </li><li>Provides age and culturally appropriate care </li><li>Orients and mentors new staff members </li><li>Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Intraoperative Responsibilities </li></ol> <ul> <li>Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the endoscopic procedure </li><li>Anticipates the needs of the provider by passing instruments and supplies during endoscopic procedure </li><li>Measures irrigation solutions used during procedure </li><li>Holds equipment or instruments as directed by the provider </li><li>Coordinates the scope/camera during endoscopic procedure as directed by the provider </li><li>Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during the procedure </li><li>Performs additional instrument, sharps and sponge counts if appropriate for procedure </li><li>Participates in the "Time Out" process which includes the check-in, time out, and debrief process to ensure optimum patient care and outcome </li><li>Cleans and prepares instruments and scopes for high level disinfection </li><li>Assists in cleaning and repositioning the patient after the procedure as directed by circulating nurse </li><li>Assist in room turn over </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Additional Responsibilities </li></ol> <ul> <li>Assist in redressing patient after procedure </li><li>Performs the duties of the CSR technician when assigned to that role (see CSR job description) </li><li>Verify procedure to be performed by visualizing the consent form with the circulating nurse and surgeon/endoscopy provider </li><li>Monitors the comfort of the patient and provides verbal and tactile reassurance to the patient as needed </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Education & Licensure:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent </li><li>BLS required upon hire </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Nursing Assistant Certification preferred </li><li>Previous GI experience preferred </li><li>Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred </li><li>Previous experience as an endoscopy tech preferred </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication and listening skills </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. </li><li>Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. </li></ul> <p>St. Croix Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
