<p>Penguin Random House is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the production and manufacturing of hardcover and softcover books, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence. The role requires extensive experience with one-color and four-color printing and understanding of offset and digital printing. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational skills, has excellent attention to detail, and can effectively multi-task and creatively solve problems to meet strict deadlines.</p> <p>Specific responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Consult with publishing groups to develop specifications and schedules. </li><li>Manage purchase orders and costs. </li><li>Oversee prepress and manufacturing processes including color correction and file preflighting. </li><li>Maintain book specifications in SAP and FileMaker Pro. </li><li>Create manufacturing estimates. </li><li>Examine book and component files and samples to uphold quality standards. </li><li>Coordinate closely with compositors, printers, binderies, and conversion vendors to troubleshoot file issues, negotiate timelines, and maintain schedules. </li><li>Collaborate with Interior Design, Art, and Managing Editorial departments to complete titles. </li></ul> <p>Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of five years of experience with one-color and four-color book manufacturing both domestically and offshore </li><li>Strong estimating and organizational skills </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, SAP, and FileMaker Pro </li><li>Knowledge of EnFocus Pitstop, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop is a plus </li><li>Effective communication and ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment are also necessary </li></ul> <p>The salary for this position is $73,500.00.
