<p>Job Description:</p> <p>LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for full-time Intervention Specialist openings at the Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton, Connecticut.</p> <p>General Scope of Responsibilities</p> <p>To provide appropriate school-based services to students enrolled in the LEARN Special Education Programs.</p> <p>Relationship within the Organization</p> <p>This person is directly responsible to the Special Education Teacher and works closely with the BCBA/BCABA, Coordinator and SSS Administration.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Implement all strategies utilized in the overall curriculum plan, as based on the IEP, related to inclusion as appropriate, individual work in a school setting, including collecting and monitoring data, interpreting the data in conjunction with LEARN staff, and modifying the program as needed for each child. </li><li>Demonstrate program interventions to inclusion setting staff and assist in their training as needed. </li><li>Prepare instructional setting and materials for student programs. </li><li>Supervise and assist students in all settings specified on their educational plan. </li><li>Collaborate on all aspects of the student's program with inclusion setting staff when appropriate and LEARN staff. </li><li>Establish as fully as possible a supportive relationship with the student(s) while maintaining the role as an authority figure. </li><li>Assist with student toileting, feeding and any other health responsibilities. </li><li>Pass competencies and utilize approved de-escalation and restraint procedures </li><li>Lift up to 50 lbs. when necessary. </li><li>Utilize Program Change procedures including communication with teacher and BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) regarding special information about individual students (as needed). </li><li>Implement behavior change programs as written in all areas of student need including educational and behavioral programs. </li><li>Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students/staff. </li><li>Be punctual and consistent in meeting daily time schedules throughout the school year. </li><li>Work effectively and cooperatively with other staff members/families. </li><li>Participate in professional development activities and demonstrate competencies related to training </li><li>Attend team and staff meetings as appropriate. </li><li>Perform other duties as appropriately assigned by the Student Support Services Administration. </li></ul> <p>Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree or two years of college (equally sixty credits or more) or hold current Registered Behavior Tech and ParaPro certifications. </li><li>Experience working with children with autism or emotional/behavioral challenges and their families preferred. </li><li>Experience in ABA programs preferred. </li></ul> <p>Qualified applicants should apply online at https://www.applitrack.com/learn/onlineapp/ (application can be found under the Student Support Services category).
