For a full job description, please send an e-mail to COD-Requisitions@iowa.uiowa.edu.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Clinical Services and Patient Care:</p> <ul> <li>Supervision and coordination of clinical services for periodontal and implant procedures. </li><li>Circulating and assisting in periodontal procedures. </li><li>Monitoring patients undergoing surgical procedures with local anesthesia and moderate sedation. </li><li>Acting as a liaison between patients and caregivers to ensure satisfaction. </li><li>Providing skilled nursing care to patients in undergraduate, graduate, and faculty practices. </li></ul> <p>Education and Training:</p> <ul> <li>Working with care providers at various levels of training, including faculty, residents, and dental students. </li><li>Providing supervision and education to support staff and students. </li><li>Instructing and providing feedback on aseptic technique, IV placement, monitoring vital sings, and patient behavioral management. </li></ul> <p>Administrative and Operational:</p> <ul> <li>Case planning, coordination, and maintenance of instrumentation, supplies, and surgical equipment. </li><li>Coordinating scheduling of patient procedures and managing clinic schedules. </li><li>Updating leadership on clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures. </li><li>Reviewing operation manuals, clinical guidelines, and procedures. </li><li>Collecting and analyzing unit costs against unit volumes for resource allocation. </li><li>Troubleshooting problems and arranging for the repair and maintenance of clinical equipment. </li><li>Monitoring supply inventory and participating in trials of new equipment and supplies. </li><li>Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. </li><li>Reallocating resources to meet clinical needs and productivity expectations. </li><li>Audit department AxiUm notes/records to ensure clinical policy compliance. </li></ul> <p>Medication and Emergency Management:</p> <ul> <li>Preparing IV supplies, establishing IV access, and administering medications. </li><li>Maintaining accurate records of medications administered and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. </li><li>Maintaining ACLS and BLS certifications and assisting with management of medical emergencies. </li></ul> <p>Staff Management and Leadership:</p> <ul> <li>Developing and predicting staffing needs. </li><li>Supervising, interviewing, hiring, orientating, and completing formal performance reviews for Dental Assistants and Hygienists. </li><li>Assisting faculty in evaluating dental students and residents. </li><li>Leading departmental staff meetings and conducting in-service training. </li><li>Facilitating ongoing education to ensure staff completion of mandatory competencies. </li></ul> <p>Research Coordination:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinating research patients' schedules and requirements with the research team. </li><li>Managing inventory and acquiring supplies for research projects. </li><li>Assisting in developing budgetary needs for patient and research projects. </li><li>Coordinating staffing, room assignments, data collection, and technical troubleshooting for research projects. </li></ul> <p>Salary: $72,695 to commensurate (Pay Grade: 5A)</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm</p> <p>May require occasional overtime.</p> <p>Work Location: On-Site</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>Current license to practice nursing in Iowa.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or obtain within 3 months of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>1 year directly related clinical experience including:</p> </li><li> <p>Experience establishing IV access.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience monitoring surgical patients undergoing procedures utilizing local anesthesia, moderate and deep sedation.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience monitoring patients during recovery until discharge.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in electronic health record charting and clinical scheduling software (preferably AxiUm).</p> </li><li> <p>Supervisory experience including performance management.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge, understanding, and adherence to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).</p> </li></ul> <p>Desirable:</p> <ul> <li>Clinical experience with dental implant surgeries and instrumentation. </li><li>Experience scheduling clinical procedures including rooms, equipment, staff, and other resources. </li><li>Experience promoting collaboration and engagement within a team. </li></ul> <p>Position and Application Details:</p> <p>In order to be considered for an interview, applicants must upload a Resume (and mark as "Relevant File") to their submission.
