<p>Job Summary</p> <p>This job opening is for (5) Unit-Based Temporary RN positions in the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital- 8 West, Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit.</p> <p>Please note that these positions do not qualify for Michigan Medicine benefits and specific terms and conditions of employment are negotiated at the department level.</p> <p>These positions are not covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council.</p> <ul> <li>In addition:Unit- based temporary employees who have worked 400 hours in a calendar year then become a Per Diem employee and have an obligation to pay dues or service fees as covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council. </li><li>Once the employee meets the 400 hour threshold, they then are a union member for the duration of employment as Per Diem.Temporary APRN employees and MVC temporary employees are not eligible for Per Diem status. </li></ul> <p>Mission Statement</p> <p>Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.</p> <p>Responsibilities*</p> <p>The Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the University of Michigan is a 52 bed Level IV neonatal center serving our region, state and beyond. We remain one of the state's leading referral centers for premature newborns and infants with complex medical problems, complex surgical problems or unusual anomalies, need for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and whole body or selective head cooling for hypothermic neuroprotection.</p> <p>About 80% of the Newborn ICU admissions are inborn and 20% are transported from our referral region and state. We offer 24/7 neonatal transport services with Newborn ICU RNs as members of the transport team.</p> <p>Our specialized nursing team members provide quality nursing care to newborns from the acute phase of illness through recovery. A family-centered approach to care is practiced in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit.</p> <p>We provide individualized support and education to families during hospitalization and in preparation for discharge. We empower families to participate in decision making for and in the care of their child.</p> <p>Nursing Specific Info</p> <p>Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined. If you have questions regarding this posting or would like assistance with nursing opportunities please contact Nurse Recruitment at (734) 936-5183.</p> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <p>Current licensure to practice nursing in Michigan.</p> <p>Minimum 2 years of current RN experience in a level 3 or 4 Newborn ICU setting.</p> <p>In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.</p> <p>RESUME REQUIRED (for both internal & external applicants):</p> <p>You must attach a complete and accurate resume to be fully considered for this position.</p> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <p>BSN</p> <p>Recent level IV NICU nursing experience, including experience with ECMO and infant transport.</p> <p>Demonstrated effective communication and problem solving skills.</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to work in a team atmosphere utilizing effective delegation skills.</p> <p>Ability to remain flexible in response to the changing needs of the intensive care environments.</p> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>Shift/Hours: As needed for staffing</p> <p>Location: 8 West, Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit</p> <p>Modes of Work</p> <p>Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
