<p>Job Description:</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Provide instruction to students in Hip Hop and Street Dance (DAN130) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. during the Fall 2025 semester (September 2 - December 16, 2025). This course introduces the history, technique, and cultural significance of hip-hop and street dance. Students explore foundational styles such as disco funk, locking, popping, grooving, voguing, whacking, waving and breakdancing while developing rhythm, musicality, and choreography skills. The course examines the social and cultural contexts that shaped these dance forms, including community, identity, and activism. Through movement practice, discussions, and media analysis, students develop a deeper understanding of hip-hop as a global cultural force.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction in hip hop and street dance. </li><li>Track and assess student progress. </li><li>Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records. </li><li>Collaborate with performing arts faculty. </li><li>Participate in ongoing professional development. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in a Performing Arts-related field (completed or in progress) or equivalent professional experience. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in dance instruction. </li><li>Experience teaching a diverse student body, preferably at the community college level. </li><li>Demonstrated effectiveness fostering an inclusive, equity-focused learning environment. </li><li>Effective pedagogical, communication, and presentation skills. </li><li>Skill in using technology to support the teaching, learning, and administrative processes. </li></ul> <p>Equivalency Statement</p> <p>Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as noted above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience has prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>COMPENSATION: Anticipated staring salary - Step 1 DCE pay scale.
