<p>RV FARM Technician</p> <p>Part Time hourly/ administrative position for the RV Food Service Department.</p> <p>The ideal candidate would be an agriculture and education minded individual with good verbal and written communication skills that is not afraid to get their hands dirty.</p> <p>$15.00 an hour</p> <p>Flexible hours throughout the week</p> <p>Position may require some evening and weekend events throughout the year (anticipate up to 12)</p> <p>Anticipated start date: Immediately</p> <p>Position could lead to a full time position but not guaranteed.</p> <p>Duties to include but not be limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Work with the Food Service Administrative team for crop planning and planting schedule to </li></ul> <p>ensure harvest time is in line with food service needs.</p> <ul> <li>Tend to the needs of the farm from seed to harvest. </li><li>Build processes and procedure manuals including but not limited to pesticides, pests, </li></ul> <p>rodents, weeds, handling produce, HACCP plan.</p> <ul> <li>Help create and play an active role in community engagement events within our school </li></ul> <p>district- 4 per year.</p> <ul> <li>Play an active role in events that our local communities host that pertain to farm, fresh </li></ul> <p>foods, and produce.</p> <ul> <li>Help create and lead successful Summer Camp programs. </li><li>Lead Student Internship program </li><li>Put monthly purchase requests in for equipment and supplies to the Food Service Director. </li><li>Track planting and harvesting yields throughout the year. </li><li>Monthly Farm/Produce education sessions in classrooms. </li><li>Involvement of every other week Wellness Club meetings at Middle School w/ 6th grade </li></ul> <p>(after-school club)</p> <ul> <li>Marketing of our farm progress & Farm to School Program through social media. </li><li>Communicate weekly with the Food Service Director w/ weekly schedule and plan. </li><li>Meet the yearly professional development training requirements as they are assigned. </li><li>Support Food Service Department as necessary </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Food Service Director </li><li>Partner with teachers to help support farm and food curriculum </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Knowledgeable of Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P. certification) </li><li>State and Federal Background checks required </li><li>Meet all other requirement for employment with River Valley Local Schools </li></ul> <p>For further information, or if interested, please contact Brent Herdman, Director of Food Services at bherdman@rvk12.org.</p>
