<p>Milwaukee County Park's Department</p> <p>Carpenter</p> <p>Hourly Range: $39.66</p> <p>Closing Date - May 22, 2025, or upon receiving 50 applications.</p> <p>Job Summary: Responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel to protect and enhance departmental assets.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Perform carpentry and related activities - Perform inspections of Departmental assets for building code compliance and maintenance needs. Perform routine and emergency repairs of buildings and structures including but not limited to; doors, windows, roofs, walls, floors, ceilings, siding, bridges, fences and wooden/timber structures. </li><li>New Construction - Design and build new construction projects includng but not limited to; show props, furniture, cabinets, signs, bridges, buildings </li><li>Locksmith - Install, remodel, repair and maintain lock mechanisms, door openers, closures and hardware. </li><li>Administrative - Utilize computer-based work order system for job asks, initiate work requests to other trades or divisions, and document work/inspections. Order materials and supplies in county procurement program. </li><li>Special Projects - Participate on special carpenter related projects. Other duties as assigned. </li><li>General small tool maintenance and repair - To keep all power equipment and hand tools, consistent with the trade, in working condition. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Current residency in the State of Wisconsin required. </li><li>A valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License at time of hire and maintained throughout employment. </li><li>High School Diploma/GED </li><li>At least Five (5) year or more of work experience as a Recognized Journeyman Carpenter. </li><li>The ability to lift, carry and push and pull up to 50lbs </li></ul> <p>Preferred Experience -</p> <ul> <li>Experience with blueprint design review preferred </li><li>Experience with roofing, shingling, drywall, specialized form construction preferred </li><li>Custom cabinet building preferred </li></ul> <p>Certifications and Licenses -</p> <ul> <li>Asbestos Certification preferred </li><li>Completion of Apprenticeship as a Carpenter or recognized Journeyman Certificate during application. </li></ul> <p>Note: This Original Examination is open to qualified applicants currently residing in the State of Wisconsin. In accordance with Rule III, Section 12 of the Civil Service Rules, a non-competitive examination will be held for this position.
