<p>Position Overview:</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lunchroom/Recess Monitor to join our team. This individual will play a key role in supervising K-8th grade students during lunch and recess, ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children, enjoys fostering a sense of community, and is committed to promoting students' well-being. Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus but not required.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise students during lunchroom and recess periods to maintain a safe and respectful environment. </li><li>Encourage positive social interactions and help students resolve conflicts constructively. </li><li>Monitor students' behavior, enforce school policies, and implement consistent discipline practices as needed. </li><li>Assist with lunchroom logistics, such as helping students with seating arrangements, ensuring cleanliness, and supporting younger students as necessary. </li><li>Actively engage with students during recess by organizing or supervising games and activities. </li><li>Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies and report them to appropriate staff. </li><li>Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and administrators to support a cohesive school culture. </li><li>Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating respect and kindness to all students. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting is preferred. </li><li>Passion for working with children and fostering a supportive environment. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish (preferred but not required). </li><li>Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. </li><li>Reliable, punctual, and committed to the school's mission. </li></ul> <p>Hourly Roles</p> <p>The Chicago Public Schools utilizes hourly support in school-based, network and central office positions. Duties are identified by the hiring manager following the application process. Positions require reliable workers who are able to provide support in areas as requested by administrators. These may include, but are not limited to</p> <ul> <li>Office Support </li><li>Duties related to opening and closing out the school day. </li><li>Data entry, filing, answering phones and other various clerical duties </li><li>Duties associated with supporting overall school operations </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Medium Work: Exerting twenty (20) to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally, or ten (10) to fifteen (15) pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to ten (10) pounds of force constantly to move objects.
