The position fosters musical literacy, creativity, performance skills, and appreciation of diverse musical traditions while supporting students' social, emotional, and academic development. This position is subject to and incorporates all expectations outlined in the District's Educator job description.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: K-12 Director of Fine, Visual and Performing Arts & the Building Principal</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>In addition to all duties and responsibilities outlined in the District's Educator job description, the General Music (Elementary) teacher will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide general music instruction to students in grades K-5, including vocal music, foundational instrumental experiences, rhythm, movement, and music literacy</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned to district curriculum and the National Core Arts Standards</p> </li><li> <p>Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and multilingual learners</p> </li><li> <p>Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with elementary music colleagues and with middle and high school music staff to support program continuity and vertical alignment</p> </li><li> <p>Organize and support age-appropriate performance opportunities that may involve families and the school community</p> </li><li> <p>Integrate music instruction with broader educational goals, including social-emotional learning and cross-curricular connections where appropriate</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain inventory and responsibly manage general music instruments, equipment, and instructional materials</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, performance, and program-related information</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional learning, department meetings, and district initiatives related to fine arts education</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by administration, consistent with the scope of the role</p> </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand, move, and actively engage with students for extended periods of time </li><li>Ability to lift, move, and set up musical instruments and equipment as needed </li><li>Work occurs in classrooms, performance spaces, and other school-related environments </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: (Completed by Office of Human Resources</p> <p>Days/year</p> <p>182 days</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>D220 Benefits</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>BEA Salary Schedule</p>
