<p>Mission Statement</p> <p>Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.</p> <p>Responsibilities*</p> <ul> <li>Provides direct and individualized nursing care to internal medicine patients and their family under the direction of a registered nurse. </li><li>Provide nursing care according to the established institutional and unit policies. </li><li>Observe patient status, report and document changes and nursing care given. </li><li>Administer and document medications according to established standards. </li><li>Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations. </li><li>Instruct patients and families according to a teaching plan established by a Registered Nurse. </li><li>Support the RN inbasket workload. </li><li>Participate in unit staff meetings for problem-solving, planning and improvement of patient care. </li><li>Assist in quality assurance activities. </li><li>Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas, including prescription refills and durable medical equipment. </li><li>To work at the maximum level of license, education, and scope of practice. </li><li>Other duties as assigned which could include but not limited to wound care, suture staple removal, results reporting, blood pressure checks, injections, and specimen collection. </li></ul> <p>Expectations</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities. </li><li>Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals. </li><li>Demonstrated accountability and dependability including a good attendance record with punctuality. </li><li>Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives. </li><li>Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation. </li><li>Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing protocols, and evidence-based interventions. </li><li>Willingness to adapt to different populations, e.g., pediatrics, OB/GYN, and adult medicine, as patient demands. Based on the expansion of the division, orientation and training would be provided for new subspecialties within primary care. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing is necessary. </li><li>Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <ul> <li>Ambulatory Clinic LPN experience </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>Hours/Week: 40 hr./week</p> <p>Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift, Mon-Fri (hours are variable and may include late nights), weekends, and holidays, due to patient needs and volume demands.</p> <p>Location: East Ann Arbor Health Center with potential to work in other locations with the division's expansion.</p> <p>Hours may be variable (nontraditional) based on clinic needs.</p> <p>Modes of Work</p> <p>Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
