Utilizes interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiencyCollaborates, cooperates, and communicates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of careProvides care appropriate to the age groups of patients regularly served; seeks assistance for resources of other age groups that need careMaintains a safe work environment within service area and actively participates in hospital safety programs and initiativesAdheres to universal precautionsActively participates in unit-based Q.I., Performance Improvement studies and unit meetingsAttends and/or participates in in-house or outside training programs to improve and augment skills and knowledgeShall assist in the ordering and maintain adequate levels of supplies as assigned by the Director, Surgical Services, or designeeCommunicates arrival times for all the surgical patients via preop phone calls Process patients and patients' representatives upon arrival to the unitAssist with transport of patients leaving the area when necessaryInputs data worksheetsMay arrange ambulance transport for patientsWorks effectively with physicians who utilize the unitCommunicates effectively with the physicians' office staff when necessaryADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department or supervisor.The nature of the tasks/responsibilities required of employees in this position will likely expose them to blood and body fluids.
