The CES investigates and prosecutes criminal violations of minimum wage, overtime, child labor, and prevailing wage laws, as well as wage theft crimes. In addition to enforcing labor laws, the section also investigates and prosecutes related offenses, such as grand larceny, scheme to defraud, false filing, and tax crimes. Attorneys and analysts in the CES conduct complex, long-term criminal investigations and prosecute labor crime cases statewide, from charging through conviction, working alongside auditors, detectives/investigators, and outside agencies and community partners.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications We are seeking an attorney with a minimum of five (5) years of New York state prosecutorial experience, including significant experience in the investigation of economic crimes, using techniques such as search warrants, subpoenas, and review of large volumes of documents and financial records. The candidate must have grand jury and trial experience, and experience complying with criminal discovery law. The candidate should be highly motivated, results-oriented, and possess excellent legal analysis, legal writing and editing, and oral advocacy skills. The candidate should have strong organizational, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Experience with the New York State Labor Law, or labor law generally, is preferred. Availability for occasional travel with New York state is required. Fluency in other languages, such as Spanish, is a plus.</p> <p>Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York state and be admitted to practice law in New York state. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.</p> <p>Additional Comments The salary range for this position is $83,594 - $178,463 + $4,000 in location pay.
