<p>Mission Statement</p> <p>To advance the health and wellbeing of our community with a compassionate and caring spirit.</p> <p>A Brief Overview</p> <p>Maintains positive patient oriented services in the provision of medical office services to the patient, family members, visitors and physicians in the office setting. Greets, instructs and directs patients while in the office setting. Assists in scheduling and rescheduling appointments. Obtains demographic, insurance and other information from patients when registering for appointment. Assists in discharge process from medical office including collecting payments, posting charges, issuing receipts and posting payments.</p> <p>What you will do</p> <ul> <li>Greets public in a courteous manner and with a smile. </li><li>Maintains patient confidentiality in all activities and at all times. Adheres to HIPAA regulations. </li><li>Utilizes the electronic health record system for new patient registration, including patient demographics, insurance and/or payer information. </li><li>Utilizes the electronic health record system to obtain demographic, insurance and other information from patients when registering for appointments, scans insurance cards, driver's license, financial and HIPAA forms and records local emergency contacts. </li><li>Distributes new patient information packet. </li><li>Establishes patient registration, including verifying and updating insurance/payer information and patient demographics each visit. </li><li>Schedules and reschedules appointments according to office guidelines. </li><li>Checks in and checks out patients to include knowledge of appropriate ICD-9, CPT or HCPCS guidelines in coding and posting of procedures to ensure accurate billing. </li><li>Checks in and checks out patients to include knowledge of requests and accept payment at time of check-in per insurance guidelines to include co-pays, deductibles and patient due balances and issues receipt. </li><li>Checks in and checks out patients to include knowledge of posting payment as received to appropriate patient accounts. </li><li>Checks in and checks out patients to include knowledge of researching and collecting past due accounts. </li><li>Balances daily cash drawer prior to closing office each day. </li><li>Prepare daily deposits for pick up or gives it to the Practice Manager as defined by office workflow. </li><li>Runs and works the following reports utilizing the electronic health record system. (Referral; patient work queue; PB user batch; cash drawer and scheduling reports) </li><li>Documents in the electronic health record system all no shows or cancellations. </li><li>Prints encounter form labels and prepare routers for the next day's patients. </li><li>Print schedules for physicians, nurses and front desk. </li><li>Answers phones and take messages courteously and in detail as dictated by office policy. </li><li>Directs questions to appropriate staff and acts as liaison between patient and account representative. </li><li>Calls patients the day prior to their scheduled appointment if not using a system. </li><li>Responsible for rolling phone to and from answering services. </li><li>Maintains clean and neat work environment. </li><li>Monitors patient waiting area for patient problems and maintains neatness in the area. </li><li>Opens, distributes and files incoming mail daily. Prepares outgoing mail daily. </li><li>Handles all requests for copies of records with signed requests and authorizations. </li><li>Checks and maintains adequate supplies of all front office stock; requests reorders in a timely manner. </li><li>Maintains current knowledge base through reading Education Alerts and seminar/conference attendance as approved by the Practice Manager. </li><li>Attends staff and other assigned meetings as required. </li><li>Assures safe patient care environment by adhering to OSHA, HFAP and HIPAA guidelines and office policies and procedures. </li><li>Complies with Standards of Employee Conduct. </li></ul> <p>Education Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) General Preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of one year relevant experience Clerical and Computer experience Preferred </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work in a physician office or clinic setting </li><li>Ability to speak and listen to communicate effectively with patients and family members of all ages, physicians, co-workers and other personnel requiring appropriate information as it pertains to the provision of services at the medical office. Must be able to communicate on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage. Requires clear speech and auditory acuity. </li><li>Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction and multiplication to calculate amounts. </li><li>Ability to define and resolve problems and implement effective solutions, report appropriately to the Practice Manager. </li><li>Requires computer and systems competency in the following areas: enter data; retrieves data; assemble and organize data; uses and analyze data.
