<p>If you are an existing employee of South Shore Health then please apply through the internal career site.</p> <p>Requisition Number:</p> <p>R-19958</p> <p>Facility:</p> <p>LOC0026 - 101 Columbian Street101 Columbian Street Weymouth, MA 02190</p> <p>Department Name:</p> <p>SSH Radiation Oncology Cancer Center</p> <p>Status:</p> <p>Full time</p> <p>Budgeted Hours:</p> <p>40</p> <p>Shift:</p> <p>Day (United States of America)</p> <p>Here at South Shore Health, we are seeking a Senior or Staff Radiation Therapist for our Dana-Farber Brigham & Women's Cancer Center in Weymouth, MA.</p> <p>This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign on bonus! The first 50% will be paid in first paycheck, the second 50% will be paid after successful completion of six months.</p> <p>The ideal candidate is responsible for delivering radiation therapy treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, perform daily maintenance and quality assurance activities on the equipment, and maintain the inventory of departmental supplies.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Provide patient education in order to maximize patient compliance with his/her plan of care and provide family education when needed. </li><li>Monitor patient's physical and physiological response to treatment and refer patient for appropriate management when indicated. </li><li>Demonstrates respect for patient's confidentiality, modesty and privacy. </li><li>Administers radiation therapy treatment accurately and safely: monitor and report reactions, therapeutic responses and inconsistencies. </li><li>Positions, immobilizes and aligns patients according to the treatment plan and effectively evaluates and solves set-up problems. </li><li>Maintains logs and daily treatment records including accurate documentation of all treatment procedures. </li><li>Possesses knowledge of all scheduling, treatment and billing procedures involving the ARIA system. </li><li>Understands the function of equipment, accessories, treatment methods and protocols and applies knowledge appropriately. </li><li>Works with the Senior Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques or resolve clinical problems. </li><li>Utilizes a quality assurance program to encompass all aspects of treatment delivery and quality patient care. </li><li>Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development from infant through the geriatric stage of life span. In addition, s/he must possess the ability to assess patient relative data as deemed pertinent to age specific needs and provide care as described in the department's policy and procedure manual. </li><li>Instructs and orients new Radiation Therapists, students and other staff members unfamiliar with the department and/or specific procedures. </li><li>Adapts contingency plans in response to variables which influence workload and/or schedule. </li><li>Demonstrates cooperation and is responsive to all staff members. </li><li>May elect to teach in the school of radiation therapy technology. </li><li>Attends and participates in regularly scheduled Therapist Staff meetings. </li><li>Attends and participates in regularly scheduled continual education activities. </li><li>May be an active member of professional organizations; participates in professional activities by attending meetings, serving on committees or task forces, writing and/or presenting scientific papers. </li><li>May participate in the clinical instruction and evaluation of the Radiation Therapy Technology students. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Technology and Learning</p> <ul> <li>Participates in continued learning and possess a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organization. </li><li>Embraces technological advances that allow us to communicate information effectively and efficiently based on role. </li><li>Proficient technical knowledge and skill set. This includes, but is not limited to demonstrating efficient knowledge of all equipment, tools and procedures specific to assigned area. This also includes demonstrating the ability to effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise. </li><li>Proficient in the use of Radiation Oncology IS systems and software, including but not inclusive nor limited to: ARIA, BICS, LMR, ExacTrac & BrainLab, Eclipse. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with physicians, management, staff, patients, and their families. </li><li>Effective communication (both oral and written) and organizational skills. </li><li>Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict. </li><li>Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to effectively handle challenging situations and to balance and shift multiple priorities. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information. </li></ul> <p>BLS - Basic Life Support</p> <p>Days/Evenings/ Variable shifts</p> <p>Responsibilities if Required:</p> <p>Education if Required:</p> <p>License/Registration/Certification Requirements:</p> <p>Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH), INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH), Radiation Therapy (MA) - Radiation Control Program (Massachusetts), Radiation Therapy (T) - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)</p>
