<p>Duties</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>The Assistant Athletic Coach supports the Head Athletic Coach in the development and implementation of a comprehensive athletic program. This position assists in coaching student-athletes, managing team operations, and ensuring a positive and safe athletic environment. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop student-athletes' skills, promote sportsmanship, and adhere to all district, state, and league regulations.</p> <p>GENERAL DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Coaching Assistance: </li><li>Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices and games. </li><li>Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes in sport-specific skills, strategies, and techniques. </li><li>Demonstrate and teach proper athletic techniques and safety procedures. </li><li>Assist in evaluating student-athlete performance and providing constructive feedback. </li><li>Assist the Head Coach in planning and organizing clinics as directed by Administration. </li><li>Team Support: </li><li>Assist in the supervision of student-athletes during practices, games, and team events. </li><li>Help maintain and organize athletic equipment and facilities. </li><li>Help with the record keeping of athlete attendance, and performance. </li><li>Student-Athlete Development: </li><li>Promote a positive and supportive team environment. </li><li>Encourage and reinforce sportsmanship, teamwork, and ethical conduct. </li><li>Assist in monitoring student-athlete academic progress and behavior. </li><li>Help to ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes. </li><li>Administrative Support: </li><li>Assist in the preparation of practice plans and game strategies. </li><li>Help maintain accurate records of team activities. </li><li>Assist in communicating with parents and guardians. </li><li>Adhere to all district, state, and league rules and regulations. </li><li>Collaboration: </li><li>Work in collaboration with the head coach and other assistant coaches to ensure a cohesive athletic program. </li><li>Maintain open lines of communication with the head coach regarding player progress, and team needs. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Previous coaching experience at the high school or youth level (preferred). </li><li>Knowledge of sport-specific rules, strategies, and techniques. </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. </li><li>Knowledge of safety procedures and first aid. </li><li>Valid First Aid and CPR certification (preferred). </li><li>Any state required certifications. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS</p> <ul> <li>Coaching and instruction </li><li>Communication </li><li>Organization </li><li>Teamwork </li><li>Supervision </li></ul> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>Minimum salary will be $3,160 based on the number of years in that position as currently computed on the extracurricular salary schedule.</p> <p>https://www.gcsd9.net/district/employment-1/employment-opportunities</p> <p>Additional Notes</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <ul> <li>Work may be performed in indoor and outdoor settings. </li><li>May require evening and weekend hours. </li><li>May involve travel to away games and events. </li></ul> <p>SCHEDULING</p> <p>This job description provides a general overview of the responsibilities and qualifications of an Assistant Athletic Coach.
