<p>The 2nd Class Dismantler is a role in which the primary responsibility is to systematically dissemble vehicles to recover usable components and materials. This position demands a meticulous approach to extracting parts while adhering to safety and environmental standards. Proficiency in hand tools, power tools, and equipment is essential, as is physical stamina for tasks involving heavy lifting and repetitive motions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Perform systematic disassembly of automobiles, trucks, and other vehicles using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.<em> Extract and salvage usable parts and components such as engines, transmissions, axles, body panels, and interior fittings while minimizing damage.</em> Drain fluids including oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid from vehicles in compliance with environmental regulations and safety procedures.<em> Inspect removed components for quality, damage, or wear, identifying parts suitable for resale, refurbishment, or recycling.</em>Sort and organize salvaged materials, including metals, plastics, and glass, for proper disposal, recycling, or resale.<em>Maintain and clean tools and equipment used in dismantling operations, reporting any defects or malfunctions to supervisors.</em>Adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.<em>Follow environmental regulations and best practices for handling hazardous materials. Required Skills / Abilities</em>Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment.<em>Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand vehicle systems and components.</em>Physical strength and stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects.<em>Attention to detail and ability to identify parts and materials accurately.</em>Excellent communication skills and teamwork skills. IV. Education & Experience<em>High school diploma or GED-equivalent.</em>Previous experience in automotive repair, dismantling, or salvage operations preferred.*Training or certification in automotive mechanics, auto body repair, or similar discipline preferred. </li></ul> <p>This is a Union position.</p> <p>#L01</p>
