<p>Job Description: GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>STCC is seeking an innovative and committed Adult Education Instructor to deliver engaging, student-centered mathematics instruction to adult learners. The instructor will design dynamic lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners, supporting their progress toward high school equivalency (HiSET/GED), college readiness, and workforce preparation.</p> <p>Instruction is delivered in both face-to-face and online formats; therefore, candidates must be comfortable teaching in both modalities as needed. Instructors develop multi-week unit plans featuring clear learning objectives and timed agendas aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education(CCRSAE) and best instructional practices.</p> <p>This role emphasizes interdisciplinary integration by applying mathematics in real-world contexts, including science, social studies, and technology, to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We seek an educator who can make math accessible, relevant, and empowering for adult learners with varied backgrounds and career goals.</p> <p>Additional responsibilities include developing and administering assessments, analyzing student progress, adapting curriculum and materials as needed, and maintaining accurate records of attendance and achievement.</p> <p>The instructor actively supports learners in identifying and pursuing career goals while building the college and career readiness skills necessary for successful transitions into employment, workforce training, and/or post-secondary education.</p> <p>The instructor works closely with the Education & Career Advisors to ensure student engagement and retention. By designing and implementing activities, projects, and assessments tailored to learners' skill levels, the instructor fosters a supportive and engaging learning environment.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Creates a supportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environmentProvides high quality instruction focused on increasing knowledge and skills toward the attainment of a High School Equivalency (HSE) or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.Works with College and Career Advisors to encourage student persistence and retention, and guide learners in identifying career goals and developing work readiness skills in relation to the goals including providing information about careers, career pathways, employment opportunities, contextualized instruction, and understanding educational programs, job training, or employment opportunities related to their interests.Prepares thematic units and associated lesson plans in alignment with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education using a contextualized and integrated curriculum.Utilizes technology and online learning platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom) effectively to engage students and support instruction. Prepares/assigns instructional materials such as videos, models, labs, class websites, links, challenges, games, projects in the learning management system.Assesses student progress using summative and formative and benchmark assessments (MAPT), and maintains accurate student records.Adapts teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and backgrounds.Works closely with Educational and Career Advisor and other program staff to develop and maintain student assessment schedules in order to meet program goals and fulfill funding requirements.Participates in program planning, curriculum development, professional development, continuous improvement activities, and other required tasks as assigned by the supervisor.Attends meetings, participates in program events, projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.</p> <p>Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Bachelors' degreeAbility to teach with proficiency in person and/or onlineStrong written and interpersonal communication in EnglishProficient in instructional technology and digital toolsExcellent organizational skillsCommitment to learner-centered instruction, life-long learning, professional development, and continuous improvementBelief that students can learn and willingness to meet the needs of ALL studentsDemonstrates a positive attitude, patience, flexibility and ability to explain and breakdown concepts to all learners to ensure comprehension and application</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>At least two (2) years' experience working with a diverse populationKnowledge of adult learning principles and trauma-informed practicesTrained on MAPT, and/or other standardized placement assessments preferredKnowledge and experience with DESE funded Adult Community Learning programs preferredProficiency in Spanish and/or other languagesStrong leadership skills</p> <p>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT:</p> <p>Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.</p> <p>Additional Information: WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>Working environment inside classroom/office space.
