<p>Intermediate School Assistant Principal</p> <p>Job purpose</p> <p>The Assistant Principal position has been created to ensure the smooth functioning of Lakeland Intermediate's educational and extracurricular programs.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities</p> <p>Other duties may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.</p> <ul> <li>Assure health, safety and welfare of students. </li><li>Assist in monitoring attendance grades 3-6 prepare letters, call & Meet with parents as needed and required by attendance policy. </li><li>Administer discipline in accordance with law and policy for grades 3-6. </li><li>Participate in informal and formal classroom visitation and observations; timely feedback in accordance with the corporation's evaluation plan is required. </li><li>Chair special education conferences. </li><li>Serve as the main administrative contact for the Athletic Department. </li><li>Assist in special athletic and facility related projects. </li><li>Supervision of extracurricular activities. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Qualifications include:</p> <ul> <li>Education - Master's Degree or higher </li><li>Specialized knowledge - Thorough understanding of student learning and behavior, knowledge of best practices in teaching, and Indiana law as it applies to schools. </li><li>Skills </li><li>Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and law. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and grants. Ability to speak effectively before groups of school employees, parents and community members. </li><li>Mathematical Skill - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. </li><li>Abilities - Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to follow through with tasks. </li><li>Other Skills - Must be proficient in the use of computers for various office applications. Employee should also be able to use the machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work, i.e., copier, calculator, laminator, binding machine, check folder, and other equipment as made available by the school corporation. </li><li>Professional Certification - Valid Indiana Building Administrator License. </li><li>Experience - Experience in grades 3-6 as a teacher, counselor and/or administrator preferred. </li></ul> <p>Working conditions</p> <ul> <li>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
