<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Canine Training & Management Program at SUNY Cobleskill requires a full-time Lecturer to conduct certification tests, mentor and advise students, provide service to the campus and teach 30 contact hours per year in the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Obedience - basic control obedience (down, stay, recall, etc.) </li><li>Canine Behavior - basic and advanced behavioral assessment of dogs including common behavioral problems and concerns of owners and professional interactions with owners; this includes hands-on learning in a laboratory setting </li><li>Domestic Animal Behavior - general basic behavior of animals in a laboratory setting utilizing multiple domestic animals housed on campus, including but not limited to dogs, chickens, goats, and sheep </li><li>Canine Cooperative Care - teaching modern methods in training dogs and owners in engaging with dogs in a cooperative manner </li><li>Creation of courses within the candidate's area of expertise is expected </li></ul> <p>All the courses above are hands-on with various species of animals, but largely focused on canines.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in the training and handling of canines in the above areas. </li><li>Undergraduate degree in Animal Behavior or related field. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:</p> <ul> <li>Prior teaching at the post-secondary level. </li><li>Experience in working with undergraduate students or interns in a mentorship position. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in training and behavior of domesticated and non-domesticated animals. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000. </li><li>This is a full-time, temporary, academic year (10-month) appointment. </li><li>This position offers full New York State benefits which are some of the most comprehensive in the country. </li><li>SUNY Cobleskill is committed to providing a safe and productive learning and living community for our students and employees.
