Join the team shaping the future of the amenity experience.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Fitness Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the group exercise program at the facility. This includes program development, instructor supervision, class scheduling, member engagement, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and motivated leader who can inspire a culture of health, service, and community through innovative fitness experiences.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the General Manager of Health and Fitness to create, maintain, and enhance the group exercise schedule. </li><li>Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and coach group exercise instructors. </li><li>Evaluate instructor performance and recommend improvements or changes as needed. </li><li>Communicate regularly with instructors regarding scheduling, feedback, and expectations. </li><li>Teach a minimum of two group fitness classes per week to maintain credibility with staff and members. </li><li>Ensure group exercise areas are clean, safe, and fully equipped at all times. </li><li>Coordinate with housekeeping and facilities teams for maintenance, cleanliness, and equipment upkeep. </li><li>Assist in the preparation of the department's annual budget, monitoring revenues and expenses to ensure alignment with goals. </li><li>Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain members through workshops, special events, and quality programming. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Proven ability to teach a wide variety of group fitness formats. </li><li>Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fitness leadership or supervisory role. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with database systems preferred. </li><li>Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Sound judgment and the ability to make departmental decisions with the best interest of the center in mind. </li><li>Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. </li></ul> <p>Education & Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field required. </li><li>Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. </li><li>Current national Group Fitness Certification from an accredited agency (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM). </li></ul> <p>Essential Function</p> <p>Seldom</p> <p>Occasionally</p> <p>Frequently</p> <p>Stationary Position -- Sitting or Standing</p> <p>X</p> <p>Active Position -- Walking, jogging, running</p> <p>X</p> <p>Use of hands/fingers -- Operate, Use, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position, Prepare, activate</p> <p>X</p> <p>Climb/Balance -- Stairs, ladders, ropes, equipment, beams</p> <p>X</p> <p>Stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl -- Position self, move</p> <p>X</p> <p>Talk/hear -- communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information</p> <p>X</p> <p>See -- Detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or less</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or more</p> <p>X</p> <p>Exposure to -- Exposed, work around, chemicals, odors, smells, noise, indoors or outdoors, heat, cool.</p> <p>X</p> <p>DISCLAIMER</p> <p>The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodation will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
