<p>Adjunct Professor - Science and Humanities</p> <p>About Capitol Technology University:</p> <p>Capitol Technology University, a nonprofit institution located in Laurel, Maryland, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our faculty as an Adjunct Professor in Science and Humanities, beginning in Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching undergraduate courses in Mathematics and Physics, with preference given to those who can also teach Humanities, particularly Critical Thinking. This position requires in-person instruction on our university campus.</p> <p>Position Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's or Doctorate degree in Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated success in teaching and professional service.</p> </li><li> <p>Leadership experience in education or professional service is desirable.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to develop and deliver comprehensive course materials aligned with the university's academic standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to supporting a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>College-level teaching experience preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to teach courses in Mathematics and Physics; ability to teach Introduction to Chemistry is a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to teach in-person courses during daytime and/or evening hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to staying current with advancements in Mathematics, Physics, and related fields to ensure course content remains relevant.</p> </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct and facilitate classes in accordance with university policies and academic standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to university guidelines for in-person, online, and hybrid instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to requests from the Chair and Dean regarding textbook recommendations and course materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Submit final grades within 48 hours of the course's conclusion and remain available to students for one week after grades are posted.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in assessment activities related to student learning outcomes as directed by the Chair and Dean.</p> </li><li> <p>Comply with the university's attendance and absence policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain scheduled office hours to support students with coursework and academic inquiries.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete assigned projects and other responsibilities as requested.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Instructional Areas of Interest:</p> <p>To better assess your teaching capabilities, we would appreciate knowing your ability to teach in the following subject areas:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Mathematics</p> </li><li> <p>Physics</p> </li><li> <p>Introduction to Chemistry</p> </li><li> <p>Critical Thinking</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>This position involves minimal physical demands. Candidates must be able to sit for extended periods, perform repetitive motions (e.g., using a computer and telephone), and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. with or without accommodation.
