<p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Education, Training, Experience and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Career Service status as a uniformed member of the Chicago Fire Department is required. </li><li>Ten (10) years as a uniformed member of the Chicago Fire Department with a minimum career service rank of either Paramedic In-Charge, Fire Engineer (including EMT or Paramedic), Lieutenant (including EMT or Paramedic) or Captain (including EMT or Paramedic); depending upon technical/specialized assignment </li><li>PLUS, a bachelor's degree or higher AND one (1) year of specialized/technical work experience OR at least three (3) years of technical/specialized work experience in any of the following areas: </li></ul> <p>o office administration, fire prevention, emergency medical services operations, training, or HazMat incident response</p> <p>NOTE: A valid state of Illinois Driver's License is required</p> <p>Required certifications</p> <ul> <li>Office of the State Fire Marshal: Fire Service Vehicle Operator (FSVO) </li><li>Office of the State Fire Marshal Instructor II, Lead Instructor, or higher </li><li>Vehicle and Machinery Operations (VMO) for the Office of the State Fire Marshal </li></ul> <p>SELECTION REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.</p> <p>Preference may be given to candidates possessing the following:</p> <ul> <li>Teaching experience </li><li>Program management experience </li><li>An advanced degree </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as: PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Excel </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION EVALUATION: Initial evaluation will be based on information provided on the application and the documents submitted. The Department of Human Resources staff will review applications after the final posting date. Staff will follow any and all required Employment/Hiring Plan provisions, federal, state and local laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements when applicable. Staff will apply hiring preferences as required by the municipal code.
