<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Contact VHAVISN04HREDRP@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance.</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Major duties include, but may not be limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Attending GI inpatient service and outpatient clinics, perform other procedures as appropriate and attend medical staff meetings; performance of chart reviews; coordinate with other providers regarding patient care issues; completely documenting in the electronic health record; perform history and physicals within 24 hours of request; perform outpatient encounters; document consult notes; and process new and renewal prescriptions. </li><li>Taking an active role in education and in the evaluation of the patient, deciding treatment/care options. </li><li>Serving on service level and/or facility committees as needed and participating in the facility peer review program. </li><li>Maintaining professional competency, courtesy and flexibility to provide the necessary services of this specialty to our Veteran population. </li><li>Participating in the expanded use of clinical video telehealth (VVC and CVT)/electronic consultation (e-Consult) to improve access to GI care. </li><li>Serving on committees, participate in quality assurance programs, assist facility in meeting established performance measures in the areas of Cardiology and such other duties as assigned by the Chief of Medicine. </li><li>Working closely with all staff to ensure compliance with National, Network and local performance standards. </li><li>Treat conditions affecting the GI system such as acid reflux, ulcers, IBS, IBD, polyps, hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis, hemorrhoids, pancreatitis and colon cancer. </li><li>Performs other duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Tour of duty is expected to be Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Night and weekends on call, shared with other Physicians will be required. Alternate schedules may be necessary to meet the needs of the organization and as Veteran needs arise.</p>
