<p>Overview</p> <p>GFT is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation Team in Boston, MA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Boston office.</p> <p>Working on the transportation team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Explore some of our signature transportation projects here.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>What you'll be challenged to do:</p> <p>GFT has an immediate opening for a Bridge Engineer who qualifies as a NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader. The successful candidate for this position will primarily be responsible for leading the field inspection and the completion of the inspection report for complex bridges and tunnels for our clients throughout Massachusetts and the greater New England area. Depending on the level of experience and the individuals desire, entry level project management responsibilities and further training may be possible. Additional duties may include the performance of structural design/analysis, preparation of load rating reports, construction documents, project specifications, and quantity/cost estimates. In addition, duties may include construction inspection services. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by Project Engineers and Project Managers, registered as Professional Engineers.</p> <p>GFT has a National Bridge Inspection Practice, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work at the National level for agencies in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Texas, and California.</p> <p>The right candidate should be enthusiastic and passionate about focusing on the inspection and evaluation of in-service structures. There are opportunities to be trained in and/or join GFT's growing National Rope Access Team. Also, there are opportunities to be involved in GFT's UAS (drone) inspection program.</p> <p>In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:</p> <ul> <li>Performing bridge and tunnel inspection assignments on complex and signature structures. </li><li>Documenting clear and detailed inspection findings. </li><li>Preparing concise structure inspection evaluation reports. </li><li>Planning and preparation for field inspections. </li><li>Scheduling and coordinating field operations with subcontractors and subconsultants. </li><li>Preparation of cost proposals and work-hour estimates. </li><li>Assisting in the preparation of business proposals and safety plans. </li><li>Performing load rating analyses. </li><li>Participating in bridge design assignments involving contract plan preparation and specifications, design calculations, calculation of quantities and development of cost estimates. </li><li>Responsible for accuracy of engineering design, reports, load ratings, and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>What you'll bring to our firm:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in civil and/or structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college. </li><li>Completion of the Engineering-in-Training exam. </li><li>Completion of the following: NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (FHWA-NHI-130055), NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges (FHWA-NHI-130078) </li><li>Team oriented engineer with strong communication skills. </li><li>Experience and training of the operation of bucket trucks, manlifts, and under bridge inspection vehicles. </li><li>Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), and experience with engineering design packages such as AutoCAD (required), MicroStation (desirable), AASHTO BrR.
