<p>Compensation & Benefits:</p> <p>Expected hiring range $16.00 to $17.00 based on education, experience, and skills.</p> <p>Click here for a quick look at benefits!</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The purpose of the Intern - Recreation position is to provide a currently enrolled college student, in the field of Recreation, Sports Management, Fine Arts, or History, the opportunity to gain experience in programs, services, and operations within the Recreation Department of a local government park and recreation environment. This position is required to adhere to all Waukegan Park District (District) policies and procedures.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assists with planning, organizing, implementing, and overseeing various aspects of recreation programs, including, but not limited to, events, goals, objectives, marketing, and services. </li><li>Assists in providing direct leadership and supervision for all assigned programs and services. </li><li>Assists in providing developmentally appropriate activities to accommodate varying abilities, learning styles, and special needs, and ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment. </li><li>Assists in evaluating effectiveness and efficiency of program and services, and making recommendations for introduction, modification, or deletion of programs and services. </li><li>Assists in the recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating part-time/seasonal/temporary staff and volunteers. </li><li>Assists with the development and implementation of marketing programs and services including, but not limited to, pricing and promotion consistent with department marketing strategy. </li><li>Assists in contracting with independent contractors and vendors for programs and services. </li><li>Assists in securing alternative funding through grants, sponsorships, and fundraising. </li><li>Assists in monitoring and maintaining inventory of supplies and materials. </li><li>Assists in preparing and maintaining reports and records for programs and services. </li><li>Accompanies participants on field trips. </li><li>Drives District vehicles. </li><li>Assists in preparing costs for programs, services, and facilities for the annual budget. </li><li>Assists in scheduling facility rental and program use. </li><li>Assists staff and volunteers in the performance of their duties. </li><li>Responds to customer inquiries or directs to appropriate staff as necessary. </li><li>Works special events as needed. </li><li>Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned. </li><li>Conducts duties adhering to all safety requirements. </li><li>Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to support the department or the District. </li></ul>
