<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Focus Financial Partners is seeking a highly skilled and strategic legal professional to join our team as Associate General Counsel, Vice President (Employment and Labor Law). Under the direction of the Managing Director and Head of Legal - Corporate, this role offers a unique opportunity to support our rapidly growing organization by providing legal counsel on a wide range of employment and labor law matters.</p> <p>As a key member of our legal team, you will partner closely with Human Resources and other internal stakeholders to lead our legal advice on Focus' talent-related matters, including employment practices and policies, employee relations, litigation and employment-related agreements. This role is ideal for a proactive, business-minded attorney who thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment and is eager to drive meaningful impact across the organization.</p> <p>This role can be based in New York, NY / Boston, MA / St. Louis, MO.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Expert Legal Guidance. Provide expert strategic legal counsel on employment laws, including compliance with federal and state labor laws (e.g., FLSA, Title VII, ADA). Actively monitor employment-related laws, rules and regulations to ensure Focus' policies, practices and agreements are compliant. </li><li>Strategic Business Partner. Provide solutions-oriented legal advice to Human Resources professionals and business leaders on employee-related matters, including recruiting and hiring, performance management, investigations, discipline and separations. </li><li>Compliance and Risk Management. Advise on the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, mitigate potential risks and support operational goals. </li><li>Dispute Management & Resolutions. Proactively manage all aspects of labor-related litigation and other disputes, including pre-litigation strategy, responses to demand letters, wage claims, employment-related administrative charges, subpoenas and third-party discovery requests, and related matters. </li><li>Contract Review and Negotiation. Draft, review and negotiate employment-related agreements, including offer letters, consulting agreements, separation agreements and restrictive covenant agreements, to minimize legal exposure while considering business objectives and practicality. Prepare employment-related template forms and develop processes to comply with employment laws and regulations while ensuring organizational efficiency. </li><li>Learning and Development. Develop employment-related training materials and provide relevant training to Human Resources professionals and other team members. </li><li>Outside Counsel Management. Effectively manage and oversee outside counsel where appropriate, including by helping to develop budgets, directing counsel on the performance of work, and translating advice into action. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of employment law, including U.S. federal and state labor laws. Experience with California, Massachusetts and New York state law is strongly preferred. </li><li>Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university. </li><li>Active attorney's license in good standing in all jurisdictions of admission. </li><li>5-7+ years of experience practicing labor and employment law, including employment-related litigation. Prior law firm experience is strongly preferred, and additional in-house legal department experience is a plus. </li><li>Strong ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop practical solutions. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to approach issues with both a rigorous attention to detail and a big-picture strategic focus. </li><li>Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements and other documents. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion. </li><li>Shown ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of matters in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. </li><li>Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders and other stakeholders, providing clear, actionable legal guidance. </li><li>Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences. </li></ul> <p>About Focus Financial Partners</p> <p>Focus is an interdependent network of wealth management, business management and related financial services firms, rooted in a client-first approach and powered by the collective energy and capabilities of its many advisors and professionals. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.</p> <p>#LI-CH1</p>
