<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Title: High School Math Teacher</p> <p>Bethel High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to teach Mathematics (Grades 9-12). We are committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong content knowledge, effective classroom management skills, and a student-centered teaching philosophy.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Certification: 6-12 Math Certification </li><li>Experience: Teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and possibly Statistics </li></ul> <p>Reports To: School Principal or Principal's Designee</p> <p>Job Goal</p> <p>The classroom teacher provides students with new knowledge, skills, attitudes, and dispositions using research-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate proficiency in the four domains of the Framework for Teaching (Danielson) and the six domains of Connecticut's Common Core of Teaching (CSDOE)-Bethel's definition of effective teaching practice. </li><li>Utilize subject-area expertise to engage students in learning. </li><li>Apply formative and summative assessments to continuously improve instruction based on student needs. </li><li>Implement research-based instructional techniques to foster active learning. </li><li>Develop, teach, and assess daily learning objectives. </li><li>Maintain long-term instructional planning for coherent learning progression. </li><li>Establish a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports character development. </li><li>Utilize effective classroom management strategies to enhance student engagement. </li><li>Communicate assessment results regularly to students and parents. </li><li>Prepare professional teaching/learning SMART goals to improve instruction and support professional growth. </li><li>Participate actively in Professional Development, PLC meetings, and individual professional reflection. </li><li>Comply with all professional expectations outlined in Bethel's Teachers' Contract. </li><li>Engage in school community activities that support students' learning and social-emotional growth. </li><li>Complete all other assigned duties professionally and conscientiously. </li></ul> <p>Term of Employment</p> <p>Ten-month position.</p> <p>Evaluation</p> <p>Performance will be assessed in accordance with the Bethel Teacher Evaluation Program and the Board's Policy 4115.</p>
