<p>Start your new career as a Crane Operator - Contract with MAU at GE in Greenville, SC. As a Crane Operator - Contract, you will safely operate overhead cranes and support machinery installation by planning and executing precise lifting activities in industrial environments. This is a project-based contract.</p> <p>What We Offer:</p> <ul> <li>Up to $50.00 per hour </li><li>First Shift schedule | Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM </li><li>Health benefits </li><li>Dental insurance </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>Proven experience operating overhead cranes in industrial, construction, manufacturing, or machinery installation environments </li><li>Experience preparing or contributing to lift plans for heavy equipment or machinery moves </li><li>Strong knowledge of crane load charts, rigging principles, load control, and safe lifting practices </li><li>Ability to assess load characteristics, select appropriate rigging equipment, and plan safe lift paths </li><li>Ability to interpret equipment drawings, installation plans, and jobsite requirements </li><li>Familiarity with standard hand signals and radio communication protocols </li><li>Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe material handling practices </li><li>Ability to work effectively as part of a team in active industrial environments </li><li>Documented training similar to NCCCO licensing, including hands-on crane operation and rigging training </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting machinery setting, millwright work, or industrial equipment installation </li><li>Experience developing critical lift plans </li><li>Forklift, aerial lift, or other mobile equipment experience </li><li>OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do as a Crane Operator:</p> <ul> <li>Operate overhead cranes to lift, move, position, and place machinery, equipment, and components during installation projects </li><li>Develop, review, and follow lift plans for routine, critical, and non-routine lifting activities </li><li>Determine load weights, center of gravity, lift points, crane capacity, travel path, and rigging requirements before performing lifts </li><li>Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, riggers, and installation teams to plan safe and efficient lifting operations </li><li>Conduct pre-lift assessments to identify hazards such as overhead obstructions, confined spaces, floor loading limits, personnel exposure, and environmental conditions </li><li>Perform pre-operation inspections of cranes, hoists, slings, hooks, chains, spreader bars, and other lifting devices </li><li>Verify rigging configurations and ensure all lifting attachments are appropriate and rated for intended loads </li><li>Follow approved lift plans, hand signals, radio communication protocols, and site-specific safety procedures </li><li>Assist installation teams with precise placement of machinery into foundations, skids, or designated operating positions </li><li>Support unloading, staging, and sequencing of machinery and materials in preparation for installation </li><li>Monitor crane performance during operation and report any mechanical, electrical, or safety issues immediately </li><li>Maintain awareness of load path, clearances, personnel location, and changing site conditions throughout each lift </li><li>Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and applicable standards related to crane operation, rigging, and material handling </li><li>Maintain lift plan documentation, inspection records, and operational logs as required </li><li>Participate in job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, pre-lift meetings, and post-lift reviews when needed </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work for extended periods </li><li>Ability to safely work at heights or in congested industrial environments when required </li><li>Ability to lift and carry tools or equipment within defined job limits </li><li>Sufficient vision, depth perception, and coordination to safely operate lifting equipment </li><li>Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and equipment installation locations </li><li>Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and moving equipment </li><li>May require overtime, weekends, and travel depending on project schedules </li></ul>
