<p>Job Type: Regular</p> <p>Time Type: Full time</p> <p>Work Shift: Evening (United States of America)</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you're making a difference in people's lives.</p> <p>Under the direction of the section supervisor, performs a variety of technical, clerical, and general laboratory duties to provide technically acceptable laboratory analyses to physicians and patients.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):</p> <ul> <li>Assists with the required processing of laboratory specimens including but not limited to verification of specimen identification, requisition entry when necessary, centrifugation, and pouring of aliquots. </li><li>Performs a variety of clerical and technical procedures to prepare specimens for processing, result review, and verification. </li><li>Answers phones, and assists with providing test result information to physicians. </li><li>Checks inventory of supplies, and notifies supervisor when ordering may be necessary. </li><li>Maintains work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly manner. </li><li>Operates computer for required applications. </li><li>Complies with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies; adheres to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. </li><li>Performs other similar or related duties as required or as directed in all sections, areas, and shifts. </li><li>Works closely with technical and clerical staff to maintain communication related to patient tests/processing. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school degree or equivalent. Reading skills verified at ninth-grade level or better. </li><li>Six months of laboratory experience/courses preferred. </li><li>Must have good organizational skills. </li><li>Able to work independently on assigned tasks. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements & Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Exposure to infectious disease and to possible carcinogenic chemicals. </li><li>Minimal exposure to caustic agents, acids, and fumes. </li><li>Occasional prolonged standing or walking. </li><li>Works under constant time deadlines. </li><li>Performs data entry with repetitive hand movement and visual concentration at video display terminal in order to review and enter data. </li><li>Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulations.Uses protective equipment as described in the Laboratory Policy and Procedure manual. </li><li>Requires exposure to power tools and heavy equipment. </li><li>Complies with precautions, as defined by Infection Control staff, in patients/materials requiring isolation. </li><li>Consistently uses sharps safety devices as designed to prevent injuries to self. </li></ul> <p>As a health care organization, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to care for and protect our patients, our colleagues and our communities.
