<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Part-Time Music Teacher</p> <p>2026-2027 Academic Year</p> <p>Saint Mary Catholic School, Bethel</p> <p>Saint Mary Catholic School, Bethel is seeking a part-time Music Teacher (PreK 3 - 8th grade) for the 2026/2027 academic year. The candidate must have a love for working with children, be kind, caring, and patient, excited about music, and have knowledge with liturgical music. We are looking for a music educator who wants to work in a positive environment that is rooted in Christ's teachings of love and compassion.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Teaches general music to Preschool - 8th grade including harmony, appreciation, history, and ensemble. </li><li>Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students. </li><li>Provides opportunities for music ensembles including choir & musicals. </li><li>Plans, rehearses, and directs students in two musical programs for school and community (Christmas Program and Spring Concert). </li><li>Differentiate music curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body. </li><li>Plans a balanced music program, and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time. </li><li>Develops and refines music curriculum based on diocesan standards of creating, performing, and responding. </li><li>Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and music performances. </li><li>Evaluates each student's musical growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute. </li><li>Communicates clearly with parents and school faculty/staff on the progress of individual students. </li><li>Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. </li><li>Cooperation with principal and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs. </li></ul> <p>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment </li><li>Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing </li><li>Excellent communications skills including written, verbal, public speaking and presentation skills. </li><li>Ability to work with musicians at all skill levels </li><li>Strong instrumental skills, including piano accompaniment </li><li>Relevant experience in music education </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree </li><li>Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School </li><li>Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level </li></ul> <p>Interested candidates should complete the CT Reap application, include a cover letter, current resume and 3 current letters of recommendation to the attention of: principal@stmarybethelct.org</p>
