<p>Description</p> <p>The Oral Surgery Technician plays a key role in supporting the surgical team by preparing for procedures, maintaining surgical environments, and providing patient care under the direction of an oral surgeon. This role ensures smooth clinical operations and contributes to a high standard of surgical care and patient safety.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare surgical operatory and instruments for oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures. </li><li>Sterilize and maintain surgical tools, equipment, and supplies according to infection control protocols. </li><li>Assist the surgeon with surgical procedures, including setup, suctioning, passing instruments, and managing soft tissue. </li><li>Monitor and document patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures as needed. </li><li>Maintain a sterile field and support aseptic technique throughout all procedures. </li><li>Take pre- and post-operative radiographs (panoramic, periapical, or CBCT, if applicable). </li><li>Support IV sedation or general anesthesia cases, including equipment setup and patient monitoring under supervision. </li><li>Provide patients with pre-op and post-op instructions and ensure understanding of care plans. </li><li>Maintain operatory cleanliness, organize supply inventory, and report equipment malfunctions. </li><li>Assist with emergency response and CPR if necessary. </li><li>Accurately update and maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards. </li><li>Collaborate with other clinical and administrative team members for optimal patient flow and care coordination. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Completion of an accredited dental or surgical technology program preferred. </li><li>Current BLS/CPR certification required. </li><li>Radiology certification. </li><li>1-2 years of experience in oral surgery, surgical assisting, or a related healthcare setting preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of sterile technique, OSHA and HIPAA regulations, and surgical safety standards. </li><li>Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure. </li></ul>
